It seems the Iraqis don't spend much time looking in their mirrors. The lesson is when in Baghdad you see a Humvee with a 50 cal attached coming up behind ,it is a good idea to pull to the right and let them through

Seems like a siren and lights might be more effective? Or a horn you can hear that doesn't sound like it's coming from a VW bug.

Not that the 50 cal. isn't a persuasive motivator..

So what was the rush? 2-fer-1 day at the hookah palace? Or something important..

I am guessing this was recorded during the heat of the war and I bet the soldiers want to keep moving for fear of an RPG being fired at them from a roof top, may have been a convoy and wanted to get through quickly, who knows?

I like the Two for one at the hookah palace though, then this driving would be totally understandable.

It's actually understandable as they aren't supposed to stop for any reason..and a common tactic is to get in front with a car loaded with explosives..

Then there's always snipers.

The luv taps they were giving out to get drivers to move worked and they could be worse taps..Air horn should be standard equipment.

Yeah, you can't blame American troops in a Middle Eastern war zone for not wanting to sit in traffic, but Dale's point about lights and sirens makes sense. I can't imagine simply bumping in to people's cars like that does much for our image over there - especially if such actions go on and on for years. Gut instinct tells me that from time to time discipline escapes the troops in this situation and it becomes a game of bumper cars and smiles.

Still, having watched that video, having a Humvee with bullet-proof glass for the morning drive to work on the Major Deegan Expressway at 8:30 am while trying to get past the Cross Bronx Expressway might make for a much more pleasant commute. My Mazda may have a bigger horn than a Humvee, but I doubt very much it could bump a bus in to getting over to the shoulder :)
