BOINC Projects (links)

Post by TABwebmaster » 09-17-2004 09:30 PM

I will list all current and future BOINC projects (as they become available) here. There is a Team Art Bell for each project...just do a search for Team Art Bell once you get to each homepage.

New project...World Community Grid...is currently only available for BOINC as a Linux client. The Windows version is a standalone. They are working on the Windows BOINC version.;)

You can still register and join the team while you're waiting for the Windows client or start participating with the Linux client.

Here is the link to the Team page:

New project:

From an e-mail I received on the BOINC listserv...

*****
We announce the public release of the first
chemistry BOINC project
"Quantum Monte Carlo at Home".
Details can be found on the Internet:
http://qah.uni-muenster.de

Reactions between molecules are important for virtually all parts of our
lives. The structure and reactivity of molecules can be predicted by Quantum
Chemistry, but the solution of the vastly complex equations of Quantum Theory
often requires huge amounts of computing power. In our project we want to
raise the necessary computing time to further develop the very promising
Quantum Monte Carlo (QMC) method for general use in Quantum Chemistry.

QMC@HOME makes use of
the QMC program Amolqc by Lüchow et al
http://www.ipc.rwth-aachen.de/luechow/
and (of course) the BOINC PRC middleware
http://boinc.berkeley.edu/
and is funded by the Sonderforschungsbereich 424
'Molecular Orientation and its Functions in Chemical Systems'
established by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft
http://www.uni-muenster.de/Chemie.oc/sfb.html

Best regards,
Martin Korth
Ph.D. student

Prof. Stefan Grimme
Molecular Quantum Chemistry
University of Münster
