Glad your aboard and Cranking as you are...

Me, not gonna Overclock this machine, maybe the next one... I just run it for around 20-hours at a time that's enough for now...

hehehe
Thanks! I don't keep it OC all the time... My board came with a utility from Asus that allows me to adjust without going into my BIOS, although I still go in when I change to confirm it has been adjusted ;)

She has been running 24/7 since I installed BOINC and joined the team.

On a side note, it appears like I lost some points or something... darnit! Oh well, life goes on!! :D

This is the MOBO I got for it...

*** Asus A8N-SLI Premium nForce4-SLI Chipset w/7.1 Sound, Dual Gb LAN, S-ATA Raid, USB 2.0, IEEE 1394, Dual PCI-E MB***

As far as Optimized Clients ask TABwebmaster he has the link to the best ones..

Average Credits seem to go Up & down when ever they want to... Nothing to worry about....

Make sure you run your cache dry before you change to the optimized Seti app. I have used the Crunch3r apps for a while now, I think they are still the fastest. I don't always bother with optimizing BOINC and I've heard about a "calibrating client" by Trux that is supposed to claim better credits, since doing the work faster makes the credit claims smaller, but since you are averaged with other users I thought it didn't make a difference.

I would like to build a dual core , I will have to drop some hosts so the electric bill doesn't get any more out of hand than it is now. I think the Athlon XP's will have to go and I can cannibalize them for cases, drives and ram and that should save some money.

You guys are using great boards, I think the A8N5X is more in my price range and I don't think I would ever take advantage of SLI anyway. I am also thinking about a Gigabyte GA-K8U-939 board that has AGP, so no need to buy a PCI express card. I asked Everette Dobbins about that board and he said he has one and likes it.

I'm here...

how's it going?
Between the iron gates of fate,
The seeds of time were sown,
And watered by the deeds of those
Who know and who are known;
Knowledge is a deadly friend
When no one sets the rules.
The fate of all mankind I see
Is in the hands of fools.

Hello, fellas. So it's quiet in here, eh? Well you can count on me to fix that.

I thought I'd try out the beta Ubuntu 6.06. I downloaded the AMD64 iso last night and tried it out tonight, I thought it was just a live cd, but you can also install it. Well, the live cd found the wireless card and connected to the internet! So I downloaded BOINC and let it benchmark and it was a little better than what I had in Linspire. So it looked like installing it would be a good idea. So I did. And could not find the wireless card. So I go the the Ubuntu forums and find out that today, just today, the beta2 was released that fixes this problem.

I'll let you know how beta2 works tomorrow night. I have two and a half hours left on the iso download and it is past my bedtime.

I should have known better than to try installing a new OS so late at night.

Hey, guys! I'm posting this from a wireless computer with Ubuntu 6.06 beta2!

:D

Right away I like that it shows in my computer list as the name I gave it an not localhost.localdomain. And it didn't spawn a new host, as I feared it would, being 64 bit. I copied my boinc folder (with the work cache drained away) onto the new install and let it grab new work.

Dapper Drake is supposed to be released in June, but I'm liking this beta2.
