Wow! With this guy, we might just as well elect Osama Bin Laden or Mullah Omar for president.

Conspiracy Theorist,
I see you're supporting Kerry. Wow, with this guy, we might as well elect Gus Hall, or Fidel Castro!

Interesting, your comments. Gus Hall is long dead, isn't he? As for Castro, I'd rather have him as President then some religious zealot. I'm not a communist or socialist, but I believe the best way to handle Castro is not to starve his people, but rather open up relations and trade. Flood Cuba with the fruits of Capitalism, and it will fall like a ripe plumb.

Now, as for that CPUSA editorial, there are a couple of paragraphs I can agree with, but they have nothing to do with communism:

"A Bush victory would give the ultra-right a green light to ramp up their project to drastically and unilaterally reshape the domestic and international landscape in the interests of U.S. imperialism.

On the other hand, a victory by Kerry and the broad democratic movement that supports him would be a body blow to the extreme right, bring some relief on bread and butter issues, and lift the siege on our nation's constitution."

I don't believe in that "US Imperialism" crap, but when you take Bush & Ascroft, they are intent on destroying every right under the constitution. Yet, even they would seem reasonable compared with Peroutka, who states he would charge a mother who had been raped with murder for destroying her abomination of a fetus. I'm sure what he really would like is to make Mosaic Law, such as the sanctions under "Leviticus" the law of the land. That equates him to Bin Laden and the Wahabiist "Law of Sharia."

In fact, the only part of the constitution he seems to like is the 2nd Amendment.

Conspiracy Theorist,
You quote a couple of paragraphs from the CPUSA piece, and then state categorically that they have nothing to do with Communism. In a piece written by the National Chair of the CPUSA? Nothing to do with Communism? The term "cognitive dissonance" comes to mind.
The fact that you would rather have a murdering Communist butcher like Castro as president, than a "religious zealot" speaks volumes about where you are politically.
Your statement that you are sure Peroutka would like to see Mosaic law installed, in America, doesn't make it so.
Peroutka believes that the rapist, rather than the offspring of the rape should be executed, and I agree with him.
I believe Peroutka would adhere a lot closer to all ten amendments comprising the Bill of Rights, than Hanoi John Kerry.

I did not say that the writer had nothing to do with communism, only that what he said, especially in the two paragraphs I quoted, had nothing to do with communism. For example, I see nothing about confiscation of property or collectivism, which is what communism is all about.

And...sorry...but I don't consider a grouping of cells with the potential for human life to be an actual human being. I know you probably believe it to have an immortal soul, and that's what I was raised to believe as well. I've since changed my mind, as have the majority of people. There's nothing wrong with abortion, or embryonic stem cell research.

Conspiracy Theorist,
To refer to the Bush Administration as ultra-right, I believe, is reflective of a Marxist mind-set, or of one close to Marxism. I believe you can point to the Barry Goldwater of 1964, and to Pat Buchanan, as being examples of those on the right. George W. Bush tries to mesh positions on the right, with those on the left, producing policies that are more accurately described as mushy-middle, when taken as a whole. You can point to the ban on partial-birth abortion as being a position more aligned with the right, than the left, but there are plenty of pro-life Catholic Democrats.
Bush has done serious damage to the Fourth Amendment, with the misnamed Patriot Act, (which Kerry voted for) and that isn't consistent with the concept of limited, constitutional government. He has tried to co-opt the Democrat position on education with the "No Child Left Behind Act", which was largely the brainchild of Ted Kennedy. These are a few examples, but there are many more.
Bush is a big-government guy, with authoritarian tendencies. He is hardly a right-winger.
Kerry wouldn't bring any relief, as far as the on-going two party evisceration of the Constitution, he would probably just attack it in other areas.
Since you and I obviously aren't going to convince each other, we'll have to agree to disagree on abortion and embryonic stem cell research.

Maryals,
Of course, I think your analysis of Peroutka's philosophy of the proper role of government, is right on the money.

Thanks for your kind remarks, and thanks also, for the information on the AIP!

Maryals,

Looking at the AIP website, I'm very impressed at the organization you folks have built. Your membership numbers must have the Pachyderms and Donkeys in Alaska, very concerned.

I'm very much in tune with the issues and positions that the AIP stands for. Since 1990, when I left the GOP, I've been involved in a few different alternative parties. I was in the Colorado Libertarian Party from '90-'95, but could no longer support their open borders and "free" trade stances. Unfortunately the last couple of alternative parties I was briefly involved in, had a lot of control freaks in charge at the national level, which is odd for parties that purport to be about limited, Constitutional government. If I ever join another party, it would be the Constitution Party

It looks like a lot of people in the lower 48, could take some lessons on how to do it right, from your party. The AIP's website is also very visually appealing. I think it's very professionally done. I wish you continued growth and success with your party Maryals. I will post links to it, on a few discussion boards that I know of.

Keep fighting the good fight.

Tim
