Air Force Reportedly Blocks Sites Posting Wikileaks:

The U.S. Air Force is blocking sites in possession of the WikiLeaks cables, Reuters is reporting. At least 25 sites have been blocked so far in what some are calling an "unheard of" move. Reports the Wall Street Journal:

Rep. Jim McDermott wonders if WikiLeaks could have prevented 9/11:

The inference being that something may have been known but kept secret, and an organization such as WikiLeaks may have been able to force preventative action.

Another leak:
Paraguay has summoned the US ambassador to the country expressing concerns about published Wikileaks documents citing US spying in the Latin American country and interest in its oil reserves.

Paraguay's Foreign Minister Héctor Lacognata voiced concerns of his government to the US Ambassador in Asuncin Liliana Ayalde in a meeting regarding published files by the online whistle-blower showing that US diplomats have engaged in numerous espionage efforts in the country, Buenos Aires Herald reports Tuesday.

The US ambassador told reporters after the meeting that she was given "a note" that reflected Paraguayan government's "concerns about the documents leaked."

According to the files published by Wikileaks during 2008 and just prior to Paraguay's presidential elections, “the US State Department had asked to spy and adopt prompt measures on presidential candidates Fernando Lugo (current president), Blanca Ovelar, former General Lino Oviedo, and Luis Castiglioni, who was Paraguay's Vice President by that time.”

The files published by the website reportedly also revealed that US officials invoked interest in the existence of oil reserves in Paraguay's Chaco region and asked for sensitive data about 'corruption' and 'money laundry' in the Latin American nation as well as its ties with countries that US accuses of backing terrorism.

The published 'secret' documents also show that Washington requested information from its embassy in Paraguay about the presence of anti-Israeli Middle Eastern resistance movements i.e. Hamas of Palestine and Hezbollah of Lebanon.

Meanwhile, the Paraguayan foreign minister told reporters that his government will not make any remarks on the documents “until we could double-check the info included on them in order to determine what's true and what's not.”

Paraguay? "Islamic terrorists" operating in the Chaco region? How obscure... oh, right, now I remember...
Asuncion, Paraguay.

The land grab project of U.S. President George W. Bush in Chaco, Paraguay, has generated considerable discomfort both politically and environmentally.

The news circulating the continent about plans to buy 98,840 acres of land in Chaco, Paraguay, near the Triple Frontier (Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay) is the talk of the town in these countries. - source

Bill O'Reilly, Mitch McConell, Newt Gingrich, Bob Beckel outraged over wikileaks and Julian Assange.

O'Reilly: I'd like to see a little drone hit Julian Assange. I think he is a bad man. If he lived in Britain 007 would take care of him.

McConell: I think the man is a [..] terrorist and [...] needs to be prosecuted to the fullest extend of the law and if this becomes a problem you need to change the law.

Gingrich: Julian Assange is engaged in terrorism. He should be treated as an enemy combatant. Wikileaks should be closed down permanently and decisively [..]

Beckel: I am not for the death penalty and if I am not for the death penalty how do I want to do it? Illegally shoot the son of a b*tch. - source

As our attention has been diverted to the "extreme left" & the "extreme right" (both expressing rational viewpoints) it would seem as though the "extreme center" has in fact become the new home of irrational tyranny in America.

I'll wager you didn't see that coming.

YOU'RE A MEAN ONE, WIKILEAKS
CHRISTMAS CHAOS, WHOVILLE IN TURMOIL

"When Wikileaks released cable #2473 dash A?
Julian Assange's bail grew three sizes that day:

For what it revealed concerning the Grinch
Caused many a Who to seize and to flinch -

Image

An assault on their eyes and an attack on their ears
Some said it was dreadful, and the sum of all fears -

To many in Whoville, the whole notion was numbing:
How dare this Assange be so frank and forthcoming!

Yet after all the hubbub, and all the hullabaloo
Note the final summation from Cindy Lou Who -

Image

It's no small wonder such words come from a youth;
Most grownups are corrupt & can't handle the truth!"

From the beginning of his detention, Manning has been held in intensive solitary confinement. For 23 out of 24 hours every day -- for seven straight months and counting -- he sits completely alone in his cell. Even inside his cell, his activities are heavily restricted; he's barred even from exercising and is under constant surveillance to enforce those restrictions. For reasons that appear completely punitive, he's being denied many of the most basic attributes of civilized imprisonment, including even a pillow or sheets for his bed (he is not and never has been on suicide watch). For the one hour per day when he is freed from this isolation, he is barred from accessing any news or current events programs. Lt. Villiard protested that the conditions are not "like jail movies where someone gets thrown into the hole," but confirmed that he is in solitary confinement, entirely alone in his cell except for the one hour per day he is taken out.

In sum, Manning has been subjected for many months without pause to inhumane, personality-erasing, soul-destroying, insanity-inducing conditions of isolation similar to those perfected at America's Supermax prison in Florence, Colorado: all without so much as having been convicted of anything. And as is true of many prisoners subjected to warped treatment of this sort, the brig's medical personnel now administer regular doses of anti-depressants to Manning to prevent his brain from snapping from the effects of this isolation.- source

Operation Payback Group 'Anonymous' Issues Open Letter To Gl

Post by SETIsLady » 12-17-2010 12:49 PM

Mr. Beck,

We have no problem with those who criticize us. We understand that freedom of speech includes the right to speak out in criticism of those whom you may not agree with. We have many critics, and we respect their first amendment rights.

However, in your recent comments, it seems that you and/or your editing team have mixed up a few details during your research on us. We at Anonymous wish to set the record straight, so that you and your audience will be better informed about us and our objectives. Hopefully, this will reduce some of the anxiety you may feel towards us in the process.

You see, Mr. Beck, we are not an organization. We have no leaders. We have no official spokesperson. We have no age, race, ethnicity, color, nationality, or gender. Anyone who claims to speak for all of us is, quite frankly, a liar. To be clear, the gentleman known as Coldblood was not sanctioned by anyone but himself to speak on our behalf.

Your attempts to formally link Anonymous to Wikileaks were misguided. We are not formally linked to Mr. Assange, to Wikileaks, or the break-off operation, Openleaks. To reiterate, we are not an organization of any kind.

You spoke of revolution as though it is necessarily a bad thing. Let us remind you that America was founded upon revolution. Furthermore, the world we live in today is the result of numerous revolutions that have occurred throughout human history – many of them being positive, and resulting in advancements for all of humanity.

You seem to imply that we are revolutionaries. We do not object to this - in fact, it pleases us.

Neither Wikieaks nor its founder have been charged with any crime in connection to any of the published leaks. Thus, we at Anonymous see any actions directed at silencing Wikileaks as an assault on our freedom of information and the freedom of those at Wikileaks to publish as they see fit.

Whether young or old, political or apolitical, moderate or hard-liner, the issue of freedom of speech and information affects us all. Please do not aspire to make the Wikileaks issue more divisive than it already is, Mr. Beck.

We embrace everyone from all walks of life, from all corners of the earth, to join us in our quest to protect and further enhance not only our rights to freedom of information and freedom of speech, but all of our human freedoms.

You are welcome to talk to us at anytime. We will answer any further questions you may have. After further dialogue, perhaps then you will see that you and we are not so different. Anonymous can be anyone, anywhere, at anytime, and that includes you and your audience as well, Mr. Beck. We simply wish to see the freedoms of all Americans and all citizens of Earth to be at the very least maintained, and wherever possible, strengthened and enhanced to their fullest extent.

Signed,
Anonymous
