It's hard to demonize the guy when he stops and talks to reporters, & consistently presents a calm, logical explanation of his activities, philosophies, etc.

It makes those calling for his prosecution/execution look like the murderous fear mongers that they actually are.

Frost over the World - Assange Interview - 24:01

Posted: 12-22-2010 10:26 AM

Does this David Frost interview appear anywhere in the American media? If not, it's cause for tremendous concern.

Assange continually presents a strong case for what his organization is doing. His opponents, the world over, have continually failed to present a solid case to back up their calls for eternal imprisonment, assassination, & execution.

Conformity is freedom
Empire is democracy
Journalism is espionage

All right. There is hope.

At least 155 people world-wide are interested in this discussion as of this post, and 10 people even "like" it.

8:40 to 9:10 - good point.

Does America still obey the rule of law? I've been wondering for years myself.

From the comments:
Assange is becoming a martyr for the first amendment. He makes some very good points in this interview. I don't know if it should be a shame or an achievement that the most notable person in the media speaking out for the Constitution and the Bill of Rights is not even an American citizen.

Right. Americans in general, even here at the FF (where we all originally coalesced around a similarly "alternative" media personality), do not wish to talk about this situation because of the implications involved. Remember the 90's, when Art Bell used to encourage people to call into his radio show and essentially "leak" information regarding what was at the time a secret military operation known as "Area 51"? Remember the same regarding "HAARP", and many others? We all loved it then, and we were angered if we thought Art had been threatened by "TPTB" - threats that Art himself eluded to many times on the air. What has changed? Or was Art's show all theater, and is Assange's show actually real?

It is indeed a shame that WikiLeaks was not spawned and championed by the American people - who supposedly seek truth and justice for all people.
Bill O'Reilly, Mitch McConell, Newt Gingrich, Bob Beckel outraged over wikileaks and Julian Assange.

O'Reilly: I'd like to see a little drone hit Julian Assange. I think he is a bad man. If he lived in Britain 007 would take care of him.

McConell: I think the man is a [..] terrorist and [...] needs to be prosecuted to the fullest extend of the law and if this becomes a problem you need to change the law.

Gingrich: Julian Assange is engaged in terrorism. He should be treated as an enemy combatant. Wikileaks should be closed down permanently and decisively [..]

Beckel: I am not for the death penalty and if I am not for the death penalty how do I want to do it? Illegally shoot the son of a b*tch.

If nothing else, WikiLeaks has inspired Haiku - and that's ok with me. Well, at least it inspired someone who had written a haiku finder... :D
