Oh, SHUT UP!!!!!!!!!

Post by kbot » 07-08-2016 05:42 AM

Saw this on MSNBC yesterday afternoon where Montel Williams smacks MSNBC in general, and MSNBC anchor Joy Reid for their inability to focus on the recurring issue of veterans committing suicide.

Now, the Left has never been enamored of the military, (not being sexy enough as other Leftist causes) so it was wonderful to see Williams, excoriate MSNBC and Reid on ignoring this issue and focusing solely on Hillary and her "economic" plan, by showing the faded "Trump" logo on a building in Atlantic City.

As Williams noted, neither Reid, nor MSNBC understands nor appreciates the issue and are themselves, like Hillary who was in the government, part of the problem - which drew a bizarre expression from Reid.

Snippet:

New VA Study Finds 20 Veterans Die by Suicide Each Day

The most comprehensive study yet made of veteran suicide concludes that on average 20 veterans a day are taking their own lives.

The average daily tally is two less than the VA previously estimated, but is based on a more thorough review of Defense Department records, records from each state and data from the Centers for Disease Control, according to the Department of Veterans Affairs.

"One veteran suicide is one too many, and this collaborative effort provides both updated and comprehensive data that allows us to make better informed decisions on how to prevent this national tragedy," said Dr. David J. Shulkin, VA Under Secretary for Health. "We as a nation must focus on bringing the number of veteran suicides to zero."

The VA said in a statement that the report will be released at the end of July.

One finding unchanged from the VA's 2012 report -- which was based on 2010 figures -- is that veterans age 50 and older are more likely than their younger counterparts to commit suicide. But even here the latest findings adjust that number downward, from just over 69 percent in the VA’s 2012 report to 65 percent.

The study found that veterans accounted for 18 percent of all deaths from suicide among U.S. adults in 2014 -- a decrease from 22 percent in 2010.

Veteran suicides increased at a rate higher than adult civilians between 2001 and 2014. The civilian rate grew by 23 percent while veteran suicides increased 32 percent over the same period. "After controlling for age and gender, this makes the risk of suicide 21 percent greater for veterans," the VA said.

Nice to see Williams calling out the media in general and MSNBC in particular on this issue - the Obama administration has been MIA on this, and the Obama shills at MSNBC were caught flat-footed.

Obama is following suit with every other President that has neglected vets.

I don't understand why people would sign up to fight unwinnable wars, most of which were started by the US, knowing that when they come home they will not receive the care and support they need.

The US Governments attitude towards its vets reminds me of the boy who promises his date that he'll still respect her in the morning.

Simple answer, RA. The politicians have no skin in the game. War is now fought electronically with other people's kids. It's not like WW-II, Korea, or Nam where it was painfully honest.

I pissed off a congressman once by badgering him because he advocated war, and I asked him if to prove his commitment he would have his 17 year old sign up on his birthday and request the front line, he lit into me. I held my cool and continued to press him about his commitment, and finally ended it by saying "so what you're saying is if someone elses kid dies it's OK, just not your kid?" He scowled at me and said no comment.

At that point I said, "so you are admitting that it's OK for others to die, just not your family, and you can't prove your conviction by going there yourself." I was escorted out, but it made the point.

We should not be the world's cop. We should not be getting involved. Frankly, if we had not been involved, ISIS would not be a problem.

Politicians are cowards. That's why they hole up in their comfy offices. I'm sure it was the same in Canada's history, but when this country was founded our leaders were on the front line leading. Not in bunkers like little girls that saw a bug. Cowards. All of them.
