Trudeau government faces 'cash-for-access' criticism

Post by Doka » 11-25-2016 01:43 AM

Does this sound "familar", pay to play, foundation? There is no way Canadians are just as stupid as Americans?! And we all know who Mr. Trudeau's best "Bud" is.

Trudeau government faces 'cash-for-access' criticism

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is under fire for attending an exclusive fundraiser with key Chinese-Canadian business leaders.

Political opponents say the "cash-for-access" event breaks the Liberal party's own ethics guidelines.

The Liberals say they are following federal political financing rules.

It is not the first time the Trudeau government has faced criticism for its fundraising practices.

Nice to see an American who is interested in politics outside the American realm.

Agreed, this doesn't pass the smell test regarding his promise of conducting himself within his own ethical guidelines.

Trudeau has also disappointed me in dragging his feet on some of his campaign promises. But we are one year in, so we shall see.

I choose a leader based on the hope they will do the right thing by the people they represent but when they screw up in a sleazy fashion, they are not beyond my wrath. And this is where you and I differ Doka. I don't blindly worship a party or a person, or defend them with lame excuses, or ignore their deliberate actions that go against the good of the people. But the beauty of our system is that we have four party's to choose from, so we do have more options in punishing the last bastard that screwed us over.

At least our leader has never made fun of a disabled person. How this one cruel act didn't finish Trump off in the eyes of decent people is completely beyond me.

I love history, and have read histories of many Nations, but never into Canadian /US History, so when I came across this article, the beginnings of the article, it was" jaw dropper"! I had no idea?!

However ,It does appear with an Obama/Clinton/Trudeau regime , what was started in July 2, 1866 can and will be fulfilled, after 150 years. Why the Canadian people would want to give up their Sovereignty, like some miss guided Americans is something I may never understand.

Canada: “A Northern Power” Once Again? NAFTA, “A Monstrous Swindle”

=================
In 1854, Canada entered its first free trade (or Reciprocity) treaty with the United States and by 1866 it was clear the Canadian colonies were being absorbed into the US. A bill was introduced in Congress for their admission as “States and Territories of the United States of America.”

In that year, however, the US unilaterally abrogated the agreement. In shock, the Canadian colonies decided to unite and create their own economy — “a northern power.” On July 1, 1867, the Dominion of Canada was born.

=================
In the following decades, under John A. Macdonald’s National Policy, an east-west Canadian economy was fostered, and it prospered. There was no income tax; Georges-Ètienne Cartier, co-founder of Confederation with Macdonald, opposed taxing the population and insisted that government revenue come from duties on imported goods. In 1911, however, Wilfrid Laurier’s Liberals proposed free trade with the US. and Conservative finance critic George Foster warned of “deep danger” ahead. “The best kick that Canada ever had,” Foster said, was abrogation of the 1854 Reciprocity Treaty. “Canadian nationality” began to develop, using “Canadian resources for Canadian developments” and “Canadian routes for Canadian trade.” Then “new blood pulsed in our veins, new hopes… new horizons and new visions.” Canadians voted against the free trade proposal.

However, in 1988 Canada entered a free trade agreement with the US (FTA) giving sweeping rights to US corporations to buy up most of the Canadian economy and a clause allowing the US a majority of Canada’s total energy supplies even if Canada itself goes short. Canada also committed to never, through any government action, charge Americans more for “any good” exported to the US, than it charges Canadians! In the 1988 election, a majority of Canadians voted for parties opposed to the FTA in what then Prime Minister Brian Mulroney called a referendum on free trade. The people’s verdict was not honoured.

Good article but not news to me Doka. There were protests nation wide in the 80's against NAFTA but conservative Prime Minister Mulroney pushed it through. He is probably the most hated Prime Minister in Canadian history.

For my birthday in 1989, a friend gave me a ceramic piggy bank. It had Mulroney's sardonic smiling face on the head of the pig. Whoever marketed it must have made a fortune.

So in a nutshell , the Obamie mentored ,Trudeau is managing to suck all the Wealth out of Canada, and redistributing the wealth among his Socialist Cronies, you know ,the ones, the not so smart people, want to run their lives. What it means? .......Well one thing is the people of Canada, may get to enjoy those "Good Bread Lines" (a Bernie Quote), before we do. And thats only because we have had a Trump trying to build wealth, while the more popular, Communist Left destroys it and fills Their Pockets. More like the "Road to Hell" than the "Road to Utopia" ! Just try and tell that to an "Infected" Lefty and suffer the bites and blood.

Soaring Canadian Insolvencies Cripple Local Banks

Banks in Canada are starting to feel the pain of deteriorating credit quality, just weeks after we reported that insolvency filings had skyrocketed in almost all Canadian provinces.

Toronto-Dominion Bank and Canadian Imperial Bank of Canada both just posted ugly first quarter results that included higher provisions for loan losses as a key contributor to missing analyst expectations. TD Bank saw its provision for loan losses move to C$850 million, which was up 23% from the year prior. It also marked the highest level for such provisions in at least two years, mainly split between the bank's U.S. and Canadian retail divisions (36% each), followed by the bank's corporate division.

Toronto-Dominion’s Chief Financial Officer Riaz Ahmed told Bloomberg that bankruptcies were part of the issue in Canada:

At 1st glance, this seems like, no big deal, but if you look closer, it is Devistating the Canadian Citizens, (if there are any left up there?). ONE major thing is that they have no printing press like the US(thats a whole 'nother can of worms). Deficits, are never good, espcially, the" run-away " kind. Always leads , eventually, to Bankruptcy of the country and the citizens, no money, no life, worth living anyway. Canada with no printing press and exports going to hell, will just experience object poverty a bit faster than some of the other countries. And with the Hatred of Trump, they will more than likely sign on with China or Russia if either country wants to bother.

Trudeau's broken balanced budget promise will cost us $100 billion and counting
Canadian Taxpayers Federation image

By Canadian Taxpayers Federation -- Aaron Wudrick, Federal Director—— Bio and Archives--March 20, 2019

Most people don’t expect their governments to be perfect. But they do expect governments to make some effort to honour commitments, be straight with taxpayers and make the best of circumstances as they come.

In the 2015 election, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau promised he’d run “modest” deficits for a few years, then balance the budget in 2019.

The prime minister just released the 2019 budget. It wasn’t what he promised. And it’s worth counting the ways in which he misled Canadians in the process of breaking that promise.

First of all, there was the justification for running deficits. The economy was weak, went his argument, so we must spend to boost it. What’s more: Nothing gives a better boost than building infrastructure and the deficits will pay for it!

But then a strange thing happened.

"Deficits, are never good, espcially, the" run-away " kind. Always leads , eventually, to Bankruptcy of the country and the citizens, no money, no life, worth living anyway."

WTF Doka? More hypocritical BS.

The USA is in such dept it will take generations to get out from under it, if ever. The USA has many cities that resemble ghost towns with their boarded up businesses and anybody left residing in them are living on welfare. The poverty down there is on par with third world nations and you all live with your head in the sand. Oh and let's not forget the tax break given to the rich that added to your dept by over a trillion dollars. And then there is the plan to drain medicare, medicaid and social security thus adding to poverty. But your big hero uses low class lingo to communicate with his base, so who cares if he lied about policies during his campaign?

Trudeau is a huge disappointment to me but this is because I don't blindly cling to a political party above all else. I do not idolize politicians like you do and I don't think many Canadians do. But in the USA, propping up idols is more important than practicing any measure of objectivity.

Criticizing my country Doka, does not bother me. What does bother me is that you refuse to acknowledge the problems in your country because both party's are responsible for them and the Republicans are perfect in your brain. The USA was a hellish place to reside under Obama wasn't it Doka? Also, you are no more interested or educated about Canada than you are about anything else outside of Trump. It seems to me your posts about Trudeau are tit-for-tat to me. Grow up!

The jobs increase in the USA were greater in Obama's last year than they were in Trump's first year. It had been on a steady climb under Obama but you won't see that because you have to defend your idol. Meh!

So surprised you don't like Trudeau, He with the beloved Obami's help are simply bringing ,such ,as you and other citizens, have been demanding Socialism/Communism/Dictatorship Etc. It is what you have been demanding for years on this forum. Sorry, it will never be the "Utopia" of your dreams, Not on this Planet. You can sceam and cuss all you want, after all eventually ,all, "Victims" become "Real Victims" Mostly by their own mindset. It is called Karma.

I will keep on being for the actions, of the bad manored, orange man, that you have been trained to hate , by his actions he has proved himself to be for the country, for the American people . A voice, that is slowing being totally trampled, but he hasn't quit and neither will I. I'm on my side, no other lables need apply.

Canada Sees Largest Influx Of Immigrants Since 1913

Thu, 03/21/2019 - 17:00

Though the mainstream media (and many in Congress) has largely dismissed President Trump's cries about an emergency along the US southern border, even the New York Times and Washington Post have acknowledged in recent weeks that the number of migrants crossing the southern border is climbing rapidly. As the number of apprehensions have increased, the situation has gotten so bad that the administration has decided to start releasing some migrant families because its detention facilities along the border have become so crowded.

And as it turns out, migration is surging north of the border as well, as Canada's statistics agency reported on Thursday that the country experienced the largest inflow of migrants in more than a century last year. Though the figures excluded illegal migrants (who have also reportedly been entering the country in record numbers), more than 320,000 people migrated to Canada last year, with more than 71,000 arriving in the final quarter - including legal refugees attracted by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's "open door" policy.

I despise Trump because of what I see and hear directly from him. No training involved. Grabbing women by the pussy and other disgusting things he has said and done. If the pussy remark doesn't turn your stomach then I would not want to know you either. Masochist!!
