George Carlin - "I am a BAD American"

Post by fabzilla » 11-12-2004 03:22 PM

YES, I'M A BAD AMERICAN
by George Carlin

I Am Your Worst Nightmare. I am a BAD American. I
am George Carlin.

I believe the money I make belongs to me and my
family, not some mid level
governmental functionary, be it Democratic or
Republican!

I think owning a gun doesn't make you a killer; it
makes you a smart
American.

I think being a minority does not make you noble or
victimized, and does
not
entitle you to anything.

I believe that if you are selling me a Big Mac, try
to do it in English.

I think fireworks should be legal on the 4th of
July.

I think that being a student doesn't give you any
more enlightenment than
working at Blockbuster. In fact, if your parents
are footing the bill to
put your
pansy self through 4 years plus of college, you
haven't begun to be
enlightened.

I believe everyone has a right to pray to his or
her God when and where
they
want to.

My heroes are John Wayne, Babe Ruth, Roy Rogers,
and whoever canceled Jerry
Springer.

I don't hate the rich. I don't pity the poor.

I know wrestling is fake and I don't waste my time
arguing about it.

I've never owned a slave, or was a slave, I didn't
wander forty years In
the
desert after getting chased out of Egypt. I haven't
burned any witches or
been
persecuted by the Turks and neither have you! So,
shut up already.

I want to know which church is it exactly where the
Reverend Jesse Jackson
practices, where he gets his money, and why he is
always part of the
problem and
not the solution. Can I get an AMEN on that one?

I think the cops have every right to shoot your
sorry tail if you're
running
from them.

I also think they have the right to pull you over
if you're breaking the
law,
regardless of what color you are.

I think if you are too stupid to know how a ballot
works, I don't want you
deciding who should be running the most powerful
nation in the world for
the
next four years.

If this makes me a BAD American, then yes, I'm a
BAD American.

If you are a BAD American too, please forward this
to everyone you know.

We need our country back!

George Carlin is a rich old coot who the 60's were good to. He has lost touch with the real world and has no clue to the meaning of the words "progession, underpriviliged (the oposite of him) minorities, racism, compassion, proactive".

I think he was really funny, in the 60's.

George Carlin is a hard working talented person who the 70's were good to. He has stayed touch with the real world and is in tune to the meaning of the words "progession, underpriviliged (he's been there) minorities, racism, compassion, proactive".

I think he was really funny, in the 70's. In 1972, a recording contract led to the release of FM & AM, and album that won a Grammy Award after going gold. It was the first of four successive gold albums that Carlin recorded for Little David Records during the first half on the 1970s. In all, he released fourteen solo albums, ten of which have been nominated for Grammy awards. There have been four separate collections, the most notable being 1999’s George Carlin: The Little David Years (1971-1977).

The first time that I saw George Carlin was on the Ed Sullivan show in the 60's. He was a frequent guest at that time.

Although this piece has been attributed to Carlin, Ted Nugent, Andy Rooney and several others, the origin is unknown and it has been around for several years in one form or another. It usually appears as an email chain letter.

I'm a big fan of comedy that makes you think a little and has more message than massage. Carlin has always done this for me...since the 60's.

moonchild2, what comics today are in "touch with the real world" and are clued in on the definitions of "progression, underprivileged, minorities, racism, compassion, *proactive?" I really do want to know. I haven't seen many good new comedians out of the box lately and would like some names of up and comers to watch.

*Kinda hard to be a proactive comic - ya' can't joke about something till after it happens.

What I meant when I said 'proactive' is the fact that George Carlin is cynical in regards to areas where we have progressed as a civilized society. I saw a special of his on TV last week and part of his routine was sending the message that children are the focus of too much attention. I was raised in the same era as George where "spoil the rod and spare the child" and "children should be seen and not heard" was the order of the day.

Legislating policies that enable minorities and people of different color to enjoy equal rights is proactive. To question and search for ways to raise our children without beating them up and refrain from treating them as if their expressions don't count, is proactive.

Steering people away from their constitutional rights to pack a firearm is proactive.

If this was really his quote:

then I think that his comedy routine sends a message of intolerance and things have become too complicated for him. He would just like to see things as they were 40 years ago where eveybody who was born of a different color, under 16, or just immigrated to the U.S. are an annoying inconvenience. Definitely not how I would like to see the world again.

If hip cool 70's comedian Carlin has been reduced to this simple minded neanderthal, then I feel very sorry for him. I actually think he is much smarter than this piece attributed to him. But what is sad is when some old "cool guy" just totally loses touch and becomes just another old John Birch society crank, screaming about the evils of socialism while sitting in a doctor's waiting room (with expenses paid by Medicare).

Does this really sound like Carlin?

"My heroes are John Wayne, Babe Ruth, Roy Rogers,
and whoever canceled Jerry Springer."

John Wayne, a make believe person who made movies but had a rather abysmal personal life, Babe Ruth, an ancient baseball star whose claim to fame was his average? Roy Rogers, a sweet man who pretended to be back in the mythical "old west" (I live there now folks, and no one dresses like Roy Rogers to ride the range), and whoever cancelled Jerry Springer (mispelled cancelled...yeah, I loathed Jerry Springer, but THIS is his highest priority to hero making?). I refuse to believe Carlin wrote this drivel.

Sorry fabzilla, a little Google research on your part, would have revealed Carlin did not write this. Carlin disavowed it on his Website.

This is one of those emails that makes the rounds from time to time, attributed to a different well know personality.

Hitchhiker is quite right, this piece of poor writing has been falsely attributed to George Carlin, Ted Nugent, Andy Rooney, Denis Leary and many others. A variant ran in Nugent's 'Adventure Outdoors Magazine' in early 2001, but he didn't take credit for it, and other versions had already appeared elsewhere on the net.

More than one person has laid claim to writing this, but the likeliest candidate to date, was a frequent contributor to FreeRepublic.com under the nickname "Bootyist Monk." The earliest known posting, entitled "I Am a Bad Republican," was dated September 1, 2000.

I thought that post smelled fishy. About like a 2 week old decomposing catfish layin at the bottom of a trash can on a 110 degree day.

I'm a big fan of George Carlin and I always try and catch his appearances on TV or in concert. I've never heard him express any of those sentiments. Good work mudwoman.

Anyone interested in a REAL progressive comedian check out Bill Hicks. His album Rant in E Minor is considered a classic. He's dead now but his philippics are every bit as relevant today.

Soory I went to the Dan Rather school of media. poke me in the eye with a pointed stick if you'd like. recieved on an IM didn't background check it thought it came from a "trusted" source, sound familiar. Will pay my restituition to the fine FF for my premature postthreadejaculation. Still kinda funny though.

You mean you were lied to and given forged documents, and posted it because you were concerned about either ratings, or the terrible direction our country is taking? Ha Ha

Maybe you need to fire your producer?

 :)
