I'm confused about what happens to tangible items during the time shifts.

If the Zodiac was left alone on the beach, wouldn't it simply not be there in another time?

I didn't watch Life On Mars (I guess because I've enjoyed the original British series) so I didn't see any of the enhanced Lost.

Remind me please if it isn't a spoiler, who is Danielle Russo? Was she the French Woman? (Hmmm. Danielle, Daniel?).

The enhanced versions of the previous week's episodes are shown prior to the new episode each week. So, if your schedule allows you to tune in an hour ahead of time, you can re-watch the previous week's episode 'enhanced,' and then go right into the new episode. There are some goofy commercials that relate to LOST during Life on Mars, though.

Danielle Rousseau -- her name is supposed to make us think of French (OK, actually Swiss, but...) philosopher Jean-Jacques Rousseau -- is someone we first met in Season 1 when Sayid followed the cable he found on the beach (the same cable we later learned was connected on the other end to the underwater 'Looking Glass' DHARMA station where Charlie died) and was led to a trap set by Danielle, who captured him and tortured him, thinking he was one of the Others who had stolen her baby 16 years ago. Yes, she is the 'French Woman.' Check out the page about her on Lostpedia to learn more about her.

And then again, the Romeo line? Is Juliette's name Juliette, or, Julia?

Yes she must be and the young girl they got to play her last night was a good choice for "older" Russo.

That actress was ethereally beautiful, wasn't she... reminded me of a Madonna in some Renaissance painting. In fact, my daughter noted that every one of that French crew was 'hot.' LOL (They were.)

I think this is confusing, too. I think the idea probably is that whatever tangible items the time-jumpers are touching at the time of a jump goes with them. (If this didn't happen, they'd be naked! Which makes me think of how Desmond WAS running around naked in the jungle after he turned the key and the Swan hatch imploded... hmmm...)

So, the Zodiac originally went with Daniel and the redshirts. And yes, it has been there through the time-jumps as far as we can tell. It may be missing now because someone in a future time has now taken it? Or maybe if it is touched by someone not time-jumping, it breaks the connection to the time-jumpers and ceases to jump with them? I dunno!

Or they've jumped back in time to before the Zodiac was on the beach?

The long boat stayed with them however from a future time to a backwards time (otherwise they would have been swimming in the sea during that leap).

The French science team are listening to the numbers on their radio (just as Danielle had said they were). This can be heard in the background.

(Robert comes back with a canteen of water.)

Also thanks for posting the translation. As soon as I recognized the language as French, I thought, oh, this is Danielle's arrival on the island.
