The Eloise we met as a teenager seems very unlikely to me to ever acquired her advanced scientific and mystical knowledge in other ways. I think she is likely playing a pivotal and probably decisive role in "the war" over the island and the futures of those connected to it.

Interesting take... could be! I definitely think her role is pivotal, as you say.

I think that's a very insightful take on Eloise Hawking/Widmore. Myself, I rather like her, but maybe that's because I like Fionnula Flanagan. (Has anyone ever checked out her performance in "James Joyce's Women"? Lordy, mama!)

OK, you guys... so far as I can tell, this may well be the LAST of our main character-centric episodes. There may be one more, but it's not certain yet.

From here on out, they should all be multi-centric, with the exception of one (for sure), which will be a major episode (I believe), but won't be focused on a major character. I am also thinking that one may be something like "Ab Aeterno" in tone.

Anyhow, this is our last Hurley-centric episode ever. That's for sure. :(

I expect things to start to heat up after this episode. If the season is divided into three acts, then this episode marks the end of Act II. I expect Act III will be a wild ride. ;)

What a fantastic episode it is! :)

It includes:

A few shocking and unexpected events in both realities!

An answer to a long held question regarding the island from someone we have known and despised for a long time. ;)

A heartwarming, delightful, and hopeful reunion (in the alternate timeline) with a wonderful friend. :D  :)

YES on all counts! :D And we saw that creepy jungle kid again! Only it looks like he's grown older again (looking more and more like Jacob, IMO).

And before I go any further, here's the info on that tattered red book Hurley picked up on the beach.

It read:
  • Ф. М. Достое́вский

    Записки из подполья
Which translates in English to:
  • F.M. Dostoyevsky

    Notes from Underground

BTW, to give credit where credit's due, the above info and screencap (which I cropped for us) is courtesy of Brian over at MyMedia. :) I knew that was gonna be the first screencap he was asked for tonight. LOL And sure enough, it was. ;) He was nice enough to come up with the translation and post that, too. Ain't the internet cool? :D His post is here if you'd like to see the original.

More images from screencaps for us...

First, the chalkboard at Santa Rosa (I cropped the chalkboard out of the full screencap to post here for us):

(I cropped the above from the full screencap for us, too.)

Now, for comparison's sake, here's the side-by-side comparison I made for us of the first two Creepy Jungle Kids we saw in "The Substitute":

And here's a side-by-side comparison of the second of those kids with the one we saw tonight:

Our third Creepy Jungle Kid from tonight's show seems to have darker hair. IMDB says they are played by the same actor (Kenton Duty). I think they've tried to make him look a little older each time. What do you guys think? Wonder what's up with him... I still think there's got to be some kind of connection between these kids and Jacob. Phoenix?

Phoenix? How very appropriate! :D

Yes, obviously he is a little older now and will be continually I think until a "Metamorphosis" is complete.

The "Creepy Jungle Kid" is Jacob! ;)

Hey, here's something else fun! I recognized her! Did you? Remember the scene in the ALT where Hugo was holding a little doggie? That was Jorge's real-life doggie, Nunu! :D
