Hi Linnea, this is the first season in couple of years that I have watched and I am pleased with the changes. I love, the new judges. Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez are great additions. And I have always been a fan of Randy.
The talent is incredible this year and so hard to choose a favorite, but right now they are in the following order:
Jacob Lusk
Pia Toscano
James Durbin
Scott McCreery
Casey Abrams
Karen Rodriguez (even though she really butchered the Selena song last night)
Paul McDonald (he already has a CD out, some people don't know that)
Can't wait for tonight, I hope my my favorites survive ! Who are you cheering for ?

Yeah. Another hour and a half here, Linda. Thx for being thoughtful. Maybe you will posts your reactions later - maybe tonite if you're up late.
There is a ginormous wind storm raging. Has my nerves on edge and hoping not to lose power here.
Should pass over the area in another hour or hour and a half.
It has been really windy and wet here in the northwest this winter. Could have been a lot worse though - so no complaints.

I wasn't all the surprised with the results last night. I figured Ashton was going to voted off. I felt bad for her, she has a good voice, just picked a bad song. There were so many other Diana Ross songs she could have picked that would have highlighted her talents better.
Happy the people I like made it through. This season is tough alot of of incredible talent !

Last week's performance by James Durbin - Maybe I'm Amazed was great! Last night's performance and song choice not as good.
MTV has some comments up grading last night's performances. Had to laugh at this one, and also agree:
Yes! Fear that he might slip a gear and start babbling out some gibberish. heh.
I don't know who is best, or have a guess as to who might win. There may be a clue in trying to follow who the judges seem to support (even when their performances aren't that great). I only know who I enjoy listening to, and feel are genuine and projecting a special quality. So far, my favorites are Paul McDonald, Haley Reinhart, James Durbin and Lauren Alaina.
One of the reasons I enjoy listening to them is I feel they are sincere, and that they are not even close to having 'peaked'. Some of the favorites seem to have mostly already arrived at their top levels - and project an air of entitlement, rather than a more honest work ethic as aspiring professionals.
Make any sense?
Anyhow. I'm enjoying the show.

.Jacob Lusk: Listening to Jacob sing is like riding a rickety roller coaster: kinda fun, mostly terrifying. There's no denying he communicates genuine emotion while singing; the problem is that the emotion he often inspires in listeners is fear.
