Just a heads-up, a lockable gas cap is worth it. In my area the prices for gas have gone over the $3.00 mark .

With Pain At The Pump, Thieves Are Throwing Back To Siphoning Gas

May 11, 2018 at 11:31 pmFiled Under:Gas Prices Soar, Gas Thieves, Newport Beach, Siphoning Gas

NEWPORT BEACH (CBSLA)   — With gas prices soaring, thieves are doing their best to get a fill-up without going to the pump.

Gas siphoning is back.

As KCAL9’s Stacey Butler reports, people in Newport Beach are waking up to a new reality.

“From inside of my house, I could see something was on the asphalt,” says one man, who didn’t want to be identified. “I went over, check it, my gas cap was wide open. I went over, and noticed they siphoned about a quarter tank of my gas.”

Snippet from article:
"He never thought his 1990 Chevy Blazer would catch the attention of thieves. But later model cars without locking gas caps make for easy targets."

$2.84 per gallon average in our neck of the woods right now. Just 6 cents more than a couple weeks back yet the trend has been nothing but upward

I could go for a $3 price cap on regular gas, but unfortunately there's no lock on that!

Wow. That beats us by more than a quarter, and today's AAA national average by more than 20 cents!

I read there's various refinery issues causing the recent spike. Won't be long now, we'll get dinged when they go to the SE WI spring "attainment zone' blend. And another jump with the summer driving season

At any price at least there's gas to be had, compared to if the Green New Deal ever gets implemented. Then again, they'll be no need for cars once we're all zipping around on high speed rail.

Another spike, up 10 cents per gallon here this last week

We're about a nickel under the national average of $2.54

That's almost a quarter more than it was a month ago

OTOH it's only a penny more than it was this time last year

In any case the price is going up and I DON'T LIKE IT

Let's Go, Brandon!

Would you believe when I filled up my tank last week, gas was "only" $3.40 a gallon? The week before it was $3.20,. Today I filled up, $4/gal. Up 80 cents (25%) in 2 weeks.

NO SIR, I DON'T LIKE IT

Gas prices around $ 4.69 about the highest for the next 2 min.

I sold my car several years ago, so I don't do any "pump trama" just purchasing trama, absolutly every thing is Trucked in to this little town. We are a farming community. As far as getting your hands on fresh produce, wil be nice, the prices won't be.

As a side note I shop SafeWay, Stores They issue coupons for food or gas. I have a nice freind who , bless his heart, takes me to some needed shopping at times. And my gas coupons can amount to $1.00 a gallon off. So hopefully, he will continue to put up with a cranky old lady :D

Also, I might add, I shop Safeway delivery. Costs me $3,?? Delivery and a tip. I find I am really spending less on groceries as when I do my own shopping I get home with a lot more stuff that I throw in the cart, that I do not really need! But it's a good buy sort of thing.

Hey fos, been awhile, great t'see ya! So compared to SE WI a gal. of reg. gas is only 3 cents cheaper in Texas' largest city, eh? Looks like being a oil producing state doesn't sheild ya from spiking prices.

So, what's your take on what-all's going on? Might Let's Go Brandon be a sentiment you share?

Despite reassurances from the White House that it is doing nothing to discourage oil companies from opening new drill sites, President Joe Biden's allies in Congress just months ago pressured oil executives to decrease outputs because of climate change, raising questions about the Democratic Party's strategy to lower prices for consumers.
