Welcome To Postcapitalism
Paul Mason in the Guardian describes an unabashedly utopian vision of how even as the info-based, peer-to-peer economy breaks apart the conventional one, the right government policies could “dissolve market forces, socialise knowledge, eradicate the need for work and push the economy towards abundance.” FULL STORY
One of the best articles I have read in a long long time.
Post Capitalism/Constitutional (US) society.
Always when I read something like this I wonder what was the tipping point, was there one main event which put us on this road and if so exactly what. Probably more of an aggregate of events which by themselves may not seem cataclysmic but when compounded brought us to this point.

// eradicate the need for work and push the economy towards abundance....
That goes against the economizing principle I learned in econ301 back in undergrad school.
I sure would like to be there! Imagine, no work and abundance?
Alas, it is only for the elite sports stars, politicians and the hollyweird crowd.....

John B Wells had an excellent show on Caravan to Midnight where he spoke with an author concerning the rise in technocracy, and how this will lead back to a form a feudalism 21st century style. I've posted the link on a separate thread.
Taken as a whole - looking at the history of technocracy dating from the 1930s and tracing it's progress across the decades in this country, it's a frightening prospect.

There you go man, keep as cool as you can. Face piles and piles of trials with smiles. It riles them to believe that you perceive the web they weave. And keep on thinking free. (Moody Blues)

Yes heard that one as well. He casts all caution to the wind and lets it rip. I like that.
