We've had it all wrong! It's not prices, it's spending, that's the problem. What to do?
Where ever did you find that little Gem(video) Riddick? Must be an import from a far better planet , with intelligent humans on it. Every body here, currently is vying for Top Dog in the "Victim" contest. :D

Wait, what? First Thing We Do Is Eliminate Half The Population?!?

Killing is extreme but whatever "common good" dictates, y'know?

AND it's simple. Hey, nobody said getting there had to be pretty...

I won't go into the charities my wife and I support because we were raised to not discuss these things.
I know, I know, Kbot, you have NOT discussed it many times here. But, there IS something not Right about that.

So donating heavily and NOT taking care of Yourself and Family First, so you can complain about what this country is offering you.
Whaaattt?!!??!?!?!??

Doka, the point I was trying to make, clearly badly, is that the way healthcare is structured now (this started under Obamacare, btw) makes it very difficult with the options which are offered by employers, if they are offered at all (some manage to skirt the law).

For example, with the plan I have I can save quite a bit, provided I stick with the company's doctors. Only problem is, I don't like many of the specialists, especially the cardiologists........... My wife has seen the same cardiologist since the 1980s, but as "he's out of network.....", and have to go with a higher co-pay/ deductible plan. Same with my cardiologist and both of our PCPs. Both are out of network....... But, these rules were put in place under Obamacare and are purely punitive as a way for healthcare organizations to "control costs". The problem is all healthcare is not equal. We actually would be better off under Medicare than these plans.......

Then there's the problem that "Medicare For All" ISN'T Medicare at all, it's something else entirely

Medicare, private insurance, GONE. The whole system as we know it, it's in the bin. Under single payer the way heathcare is delivered in this county will be radically changed.

If you like Medicare, you can keep it. NOT

There's no little false advertising going on.

Whether it's being done deliberately or not, the system's in the crapper.

You can make the argument (Obamacare) that al of the new requirements have driven up costs, and, as with any government program once the government gets their mitts into something, we're stuck.art

You can take the counter argument that things are and will be better, thanks to technology and willingness to open traditional healthcare roles to others - think Walmart's vision of Walmart clinics, expansion of PAs and NPs, etc.......

Either way (my view) the system's heading into free-fall...... Just my view.

Help, We've Fallen & We Can't Get Up

A few thoughts...

Before modern medicine, with no treatment for what ailed them, any number of adults just died. Lotsa babies & young'uns too.

Now, not only are Americans' average lifespans way higher, parents with inherited aliments that otherwise would've died before having kids pass the genetic capacity for those aliments on, and on and on...

Back in the day, when food took a bigger budget bite, there was no obesity epidemic. Also, sitting on your tush 8 hours a day 5 days a week at work wasn't anywhere near as common.

Healthier people don't put the sort of upwards pressure on prices as those not-as healthy for whatever reason do. Losing weight, proper diet and exercise can be treatments in themselves, even for certain genetic aliments. But there's cases of inherited issues that just plain need medical intervention.

More folks being proactive about their health would be great - Sadly, where we're at is all too many people look at what modern medicine has to offer, and say "give me all there is and even more please"

What really concerns me is "unnatural selection" eventually leading to a gene pool that in-large holds the likelihood EVERYONE from day one has multiple serious inherited illnesses needing ongoing medical care

IMHO That's the kind of free fall that could bring down civilization.

The irony of it all..............little did the staunch Socialists/Communists know, and still don't, what they where demanding. They are just getting what they wanted. IT Sounded good, but just didn't read the small print. Wonder how many voted for their own demise again?

There's a LOT of fine print Doka (a LOT!!!!). I spend eight-plus hours every day devoted to complying with all the new regs and demonstrating compliance.

Last night I attended a radiation safety lecture, and one piece that the speaker mentioned was that there are pending petitions before the federal government concerning the cleanup of radioactive sites. Who'd be against that, right?

Here's the issue: there is no low threshold limit that says "above this amount of exposure, you WILL get cancer....." That model doesn't exist.

But, here's the strange thing - this logic was developed in the late 1940s and early 1950s when we (the US) had created our nuclear forces and Russia was developing theirs. So, the story goes, our government pushed the no-threshold limit in order to put pressure on the USSR (didn't work....), but now we have these regs that state that in order to totally "clean" a nuclear site, you must leave the site with background levels lower than mother nature had there before the site opened. That costs hundreds of BILLIONS of dollars to do that.

As far as I know the government hasn't ruled yet, but it appears that they will be soon, and it looks like the rules will stay in place

You are preaching to the choir here...........I live with Hanford in my back yard........I've lost count of the Billions that have been put into it for "clean-up" .Well, it's still there, with weekly "accidents" I have thought for quite some time that it simpy has become a "Money Laundering, Redistribution Center" for the Democrats or any body in need of a "Bank". We have no idea where the money went? This has been going on for years.

I also question how "deadly" they say it is? If it was, We all in this area, would just sun bleached bones a long time ago!

Depends on what's there and how much, and whether it is somehow leeching into your environment (soil, water, food) and how much you're absorbing.

Good question though about "where did all the money go.....?"

If you don't know where it went you can't follow the money.

If you can't follow the money, send some more after it

If you run out of money, have taxpayers sell their blood

Think about it. Not everyone has money but everyone has blood. And the healthy adult population's sizable.

KA-CHING! It's so simple it's brilliant! What the government takes, soon gets replaced. Plus there's health benefits from bloodletting. It's a clear WIN-WIN -

So WHY WAIT 'til America goes flat broke bankrupt?? - Taxman, TAP THAT VEIN!
