America's Youth Embraces A False Idea of Socialism

By Rick Hayes —— Bio and Archives--March 4, 2019

Socialism is now a significant component of the reinvented Democratic party gaining momentum and visibility. Recently Democratic Presidental candidate Bernie Sanders held his first campaign rally in Brooklyn, New York amidst a crowd of cheering and enthusiastic supporters many of whom represent the youth and future of America.

Medicare for all, establishing a $15 per hour minimum wage, free public college, and splitting up big banks

Medicare for all, establishing a $15 per hour minimum wage, free public college, and splitting up big banks were just some of the items mentioned on Sanders’ giveaway platform. But unlike his run in 2016, where the 77-year-old Senator from Vermont was the only declared socialist, now the field is packed with a collection of far-left contenders. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s Green New Deal is just one of the many profound changes America’s young adults are eagerly anticipating. So, knowing that none of the following information has ever seen the inside of an American University for the past 30 years, perhaps the time has come to shed some light on what young voters should expect if The United States becomes a utopia.

Many Humans have a Large problem...........They are self ignorant. Always looking OUT THERE for something to make them feel good inside themselves. OUT THERE, there is nothing for them, but discontentment, for it is never enough.

My guess is, that when the true Socialist Agenda is implemented that the ignorant, greedy, selfish spoiled youth, will scream the scream heard around the World. They have no capcity for being "Without" Most of the "Grown-Ups" have some experience in that department, as horrible as it felt at the time, the accomplishments we experienced, through our "Own Doing" to never go back to those times, have made us greatful and thankfull for what we have and have enhanced our own self-worth and Value as a human being. There is nothing better than the experience of our own accomplishments to share with others as a living, breathing example, that it Can be done!

For those who wait, complain and bit-ch, demand, while waiting for the "Hot Dog To Be Shoved Thru The Key Hole", Good luck. Then you got the real ingrates, the ones, that can't even make up their minds if they want the elusive "Hot Dog" at all! :D

Socialists Are Scarcity Deniers

Post by Riddick » 03-04-2019 02:53 PM

Edited & excerpted from Jeffrey Tucker's article:

Socialism seems to be the most persistent non-falsifiable ideology on planet earth. Socialists are like people who swear that gravity doesn’t exist and keep hopping around on two feet, expecting to rise into the clouds at any moment. It never happens, but their faith there is no gravity remains unshaken.

Wherever socialism is tried, people suffer. Each case is different because no tyrannical regime behaves exactly like any other. What, in any case, is socialism? The Socialist Party of Britain gives this shorthand description: “free access to all goods and services.” Interesting idea. I think I’ll take a Bentley, a vacation to Europe, a custom-made suit, and a lifetime of haircuts. For free. Thank you very much.

This claim seems to confirm everything I’ve ever suspected about socialism. It’s rooted in a very simple error, one so fundamental that it denies a fundamental feature of the world. It denies the existence and the persistence of scarcity itself. That is to say, it denies producing and allocating is even a problem. If you deny that, it’s hardly surprising that you have no regard for economics as a discipline of the social sciences.

Scarcity is baked into the nature of a good. If you can imagine people in some sort of argument about who gets to control or consume it, it is scarce. Even copious goods can be scarce. Think of an Easter egg hunt with 100,000 eggs on a lawn. The kids will still run and struggle to collect them. They still have the features of scarcity.

Here’s the key point. So long as anything is scarce, there cannot be free, unlimited, collective access to it. Whatever it is will be over-utilized, depleted, and finally vanish following the final fight for the last scrap – sort of like what is happening in Venezuela today.

That is to say, you can’t have socialism in a scarce good or service. Instead, it has to be allocated. Things can be allocated by arbitrary decision backed by force, or they can be allocated through agreement, trading, and gifting. The forceful way is what socialism has always become. This is for a reason: socialism does not deal with reality.

What doesn’t have the feature of scarcity? Think of any good or service over which there is no contest to control and consume. You can consume it and so can everyone else, unto infinity. The last word is key. For a good to be non-scarce, there can be no limits to its reproducibility.

All this aside, socialists often don’t seem to get the very first point: there is no imagined heaven on earth of unlimited plenty. All we can do is struggle to make more of everything available to as many people as possible, and encourage trading to take advantage of the division of labor. This is called a market, and it is based on the notion of private ownership in all scarce things (including capital goods) – the very thing that socialists want to end.

Then they look at Venezuela and think: my goodness, something seems to be going wrong! Whatever it is, it can’t be socialism! But you know what? Socialism is indeed the problem. It truly makes no sense.

What two great reads of good sense Doka and Riddick. Man alive (still alive as a look-a-like of the face on the big screen in The Wizard of Oz, scowling!) Bernie Sanders was thrilling 12,000 wanna be socialists in Chicago on Friday.

The Deep State could be headed for the shallows!

THAT’S NOT THE NARRATIVE

Finland Government Collapses Over Universal Health Care Costs

Finland has long been touted by American socialists as the socialist Nirvana, where everything is free and everyone is happy, happy, happy. Sadly, fiscal reality hit Finland’s government as it collapsed Friday due to the rising costs of its universal health care.

It’s not just Finland experiencing such problems with its socialist policies. Other Nordic countries, also touted by American socialists and communists as the model America should follow, are suffering similar economic burdens directly related to their socialist policies.

My Family Escaped Socialism, Now My Fellow Democrats Think We Should Move The Party In Its Direction

Post by Riddick » 03-28-2019 12:59 AM

Edited & Excerpted from Giancarlo Sopo's article:

Despite my working-class immigrant roots, I am concerned by the popularity of socialism within my party. On the night of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s victory in New York, I thought her use of the term was a misnomer. Then I began studying the views of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), the rapidly growing national organization she belongs to, and was disturbed by what I learned.

Like those of yesteryear, today’s socialists believe the government should nationalize major industries, propose eliminating private ownership of companies, and reject profits. In other words, democratic socialism is a lot like the system my family fled, except its proponents promise to be nicer when seizing your business.

When I confronted some progressive friends about this, they initially dismissed my concerns. After sharing some articles with them, the conversation shifted to "they just want us to be more like the Nordic countries" and "they’re not like real socialists!" Both are reductionist, self-delusions to avoid confronting difficult truths.

The latter is a particularly absurd fallacy because it requires one to believe that adults who willfully join socialist organizations, sound like socialists and call themselves socialists are not what they claim to be.

Claims of "Nordic socialism" are also largely exaggerated. As Jostein Skaar, of Oslo Economics, told me, "I would stress that the Norwegian economic system is capitalistic, heavily influenced by the U.S. and U.K."
This is probably why DSA argues that the Nordic model is not good enough.

The ideological counterparts of America's democratic socialists are likelier to be found to our south than in northern Europe. For instance, Cuba — where the state controls three-fourths of the economy, limits private-sector activity, and employs the majority of workers — is clearly more representative of DSA's economic vision than Denmark, where 89 percent of the wealth is privately owned and seven out of 10 Danes work in the private sector.

Moreover, as an investigation by Transparency International revealed, the Venezuelan government owns at least 511 companies — resulting in a state-owned enterprises per-capita ratio that is more than three times greater than all of Scandinavia’s combined.

It's foolish to believe that democratic socialists — who promise to end capitalism — would be satisfied with Medicare for all, if given the reins of power. This must never happen. The descendants of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels should have no place in the party of Harry Truman and John F. Kennedy.

Given its horrific record of human suffering, it would be a moral disgrace for Democrats to embrace socialism just to win elections, as some suggest. Those who use the blitheful ignorance of many for the political gain of a few deserve to lose. Indeed, if socialism represents the future of the Democratic Party, that’s a dystopia no American should want to be a part of.
