The Titanic May Have Actually Sank Due To An Enormous Fire

Post by Riddick » 01-03-2017 01:19 AM

Rarely seen images of the Titanic before it left Southampton have furthered researchers’ theory that a fire may have been the root cause of the 1912 disaster. FULL STORY

That story and theory was very interesting Riddick. I have the experience of 16 hours firefighting atop one coal bunker's deep seated fire inside the structure of our local mega sized power plant. The damn thing was 250 feet tall and the top of the "coal pile" was just 30 feet below us! Two months before that a similar deep seated fire "blew up" in the same bunker injuring 26 personnel and firefighters. Luckily only one power plant employee was hospitalized for a few days. Everyone else was stunned, bruised and saved by the walkways two guard rails!

There was very little smoke from the new fire! But there was this slight funky odor emanating from the top. We used foam $$$ for hour$ and hour$ as the maintenance personnel "finally" began cutting a hole in it's bottom! Why that shute for expelling hot coal was never in the blue prints for the plant's original design was very strange to see. :o

The ship builders must have loaded the finished Titanic with wet coal allowing spontaneous combustion to heat it up. It's long been speculated that the USS Maine blew up for this reason. Then all hell broke loose blaming Spain and Cuba!

It's odd that that doomed ship's coal bunker did not blow up. :? So filled with delays prior to that "Maiden Voyage" it had to depart into history. In hindsight it should'a never left Belfast!

But it sounds like they're onto something anyway. We know steel is weakened in high heat so I'll stop there.

Oh yeah! We finally got the deep seated fire out coupled with dumping the coal into a small dump truck!

I'd never heard of that very brief conspiracy Dude.

Deep seated spontaneous combustion in coal emits an acrid smoke that all of the survivors would have reported during their rescue. So it's a good theory but it's not part of reality.

My hometown as some memorabilia from the Titanic and the Marie Museum has some artifacts. One of the nursing homes my wife has worked at over the years had a patient who was on the Titanic and survived. This is a sad story, and if this new information is true, is disturbing. But...... never let profit get n the way, right Riddick????

Marine Museum’s audio recording from Titanic survivor saved for posterity

FALL RIVER — To hear Marjorie Newell Robb’s account of the Titanic slipping into the ocean and of the little boats struggling to move away from the massive sinking ship, is a link to the historic tragedy and to life itself in 1912.

Robb’s delicate voice has been telling the story of how she and her sister survived the Titanic in a recording at the Marine Museum at Fall River for years.

The device, however, had become old and skipped here and there. With the volume turned up, it crackled and was sometimes incomprehensible, moving dangerously close to fading completely.

“It was one good power surge away from never existing,” said Steven Rys, Bristol Community College assistant director of Television Services and a videographer for Fall River Community Media.

“We didn’t have another copy,” said Marine Museum Executive Director Maria Vann.

Rys has restored the audio to much better quality for Marine Museum visitors, and has it backed up in more than one place for longevity.

“It’s just awesome to restore some of this history,” Rys said.
