Sounds like a terror cell. Hope I'm wrong. Watch the spin.

FBI: "This is not a terror attack."

Boy, that was quick.

Just heard (radio) that they've let suspects go and are moving away from a coordinated attack scenario. It appears to be the work of one gunman.

(earlier, during a top-of-the-hour newsbreak on the radio, the reporterette said "and now, in other news..." Other new? There's other news right now? I hate -- hate -- the main-stream-media. Because this doesn't involve H1N1 or Obama, I guess it's not enough for a three minute newsbreak.)
Did you ever stop to think, and then forget to start again?

"They were telling him that one guy was shouting something in Arabic while he was shooting," Tom Hunt said. "He couldn't say much more than that."

Take a guess.

Federal law enforcement officials say the suspected Fort Hood, Texas, shooter had come to their attention at least six months ago because of Internet postings that discussed suicide bombings and other threats.

The officials say the postings appeared to have been made by Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, who was killed during the shooting incident that left least 11 others dead and 31 wounded. The officials say they are still trying to confirm that he was the author. They say an official investigation was not opened…

One of the Web postings that authorities reviewed is a blog that equates suicide bombers with a soldier throwing himself on a grenade to save the lives of his comrades.

“They shot me! And I’m still here in this country!” Dustin Bono quoted his sister as saying.
That's a statement well worth thinking about.

Perhaps, after listening to horror stories, day-after-day, week-after-week, month-after-month, and then being advised he's being deployed to the Middle East, he "broke." This could have been coming for quite a while.

Think about yourselves. If YOU had been born in this country, and spent several years in our military as a psychiatrist, listening to tales of terror against people who might be your distant relatives... and THEN, learn YOU are being sent to a foreign land, possibly to have to battle people to whom you might be related, or to a place where YOU, TOO, might be killed, it might be enough to cause YOU to break.

What he did was wrong. I'm not saying it wasn't... what I'm saying is we (you and I, or at least most of us) have no clue what it's like to fight in a foreign land. (Yes, some of you have, and we all commend you for your service; your loyalty to the U.S. is NOT in dispute, here!) Most of us would choose NOT to be sent to Iraq or Afghanistan, if we have a choice.

I'm thinking he's just heard too many horror stories, and he's been pushed over the brink, and he snapped--for which he will probably be sentenced to death or to spend the rest of his life is prison.

But we can't let his actions cause us to suspect every person we know or meet who has a middle eastern sounding name, or to assume that everyone can be just like him.

If he had a mental break-down--a story he heard that was so horrifying; so damaging; so ugly that it caused him to question what our service men and women are being ordered to do, it could have caused him to break. Or, just being assigned to deploy, after all he's been hearing and could visualize might be expected of himself, could have caused him to break.

It's not up to us to judge his reason--he had NO RATIONAL REASONING at the time he did this. NONE!

He obviously was driven over-the-brink by someone's story, or too many someones' stories, and his own fear and disgust of the way people are being sent off to fight must have had a terrible impact on him. He's been a career soldier. We should be questioning WHAT he's heard that caused this breakdown, and pity him--a psychiatrist, no less--for concluding that what's he's done was necessary.

The woes of war are visited on the many...

Second gunman?
DOW JONES NEWSWIRES

A second gunman is in custody after a shooting at the Army's Fort Hood in Texas in which at least seven people were killed and 12 wounded, reports KCEN-TV of Waco. The report comes about two hours after a first suspect was captured, shortly after gunfire broke out.

Authorities say the gunmen were dressed in fatigues, though it's not confirmed whether they are military personnel. It's also not known if the victims were military personnel or civilians.

The incident reportedly began at Fort Hood's theater and then moved to the Soldier Readiness Processing Center, Killeen City Public Information Officer Hillary Shine told Fox News. A graduation ceremony was scheduled to take place Thursday.

Just wanted to document the "gunmen" report, before it is scrubbed.
