Viamins and Natural Substances Under Attack

Post by Cherry Kelly » 05-03-2010 10:12 AM

Just released -- seems that your vitamins and other natural substances are under attack -- In of ALL places under the WALL STREET reform bill.

"" (NaturalNews) Of all the sneaky tactics practiced in Washington D.C., this recent action by Congressman Henry Waxman (D-CA) is one of the most insidious: While no one was looking, he injected amendment language into the Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act of 2009 (H.R. 4173) that would expand the powers of the FTC (not the FDA, but the FTC) to terrorize nutritional supplement companies by greatly expanding the power of the FTC to make its own laws that target dietary supplement companies. It's hard to say yes or no on this one. There are a lot of predators out there, hawking "natural substances" that either don't do what they're supposed to do, and just take our money... or, they recommend HARMFUL amounts of the vitamins without being able to support their claims.

I was victimized, several times, by purchasing vitamins and taking the recommended amounts, which made me very ill.

The best advice I can give anyone is: If you think you need a certain kind of vitamin, have your doctor take your blood and run tests - see what your system is lacking. Don't just take the manufacturer's advice on how much to take.

EXAMPLE: I thought, according to the websites, I was low on Vitamin D. Several sites said we are ALL lacking in Vitamin D and C because we're staying out of the sun these days, because of the risk of skin cancer. 5000 IUs was the recommended dose of D, and 2500 IUs of C was recommended. So I ordered it, and took those dosages for several days.

I came down with rashes and stomach problems.

I called and spoke with the "doctor" who recommended the dosages. His advice? Take MORE, because my body was SO depleted, it would require another 2500 IUs to get my body back into healthy shape.

Well, I went to my family doctor and had him run a scan on all the vitamins my body was lacking... It turned out - twice - my Vitamin D and C and A levels were OVER what they should be. As soon as I stopped taking the vitamins totally, the rash went away, the stomach cramps ceased, and I no longer felt ill when I ate good food.

KNOW YOUR OWN BODY and check your own levels of the vitamins they tell you you need.

Don't be duped like I was; long-term use of vitamins you don't need can cause a lot of health problems that may present as other symptoms.

The ONE supplement that actually DID work for me was blue/green algae. It restored my appetite, settled my inability to eat certain vegetables, and I began regaining the 35 pounds I'd lost, which none of my specialists and their "prescriptions" seemed to help. BUT. The algae (after your body regains it's normal viability) begins to think the algae is FOOD, and then I lost my appetite, again. A wise health food store employee told me to stop taking it every morning, to cut the dosage in half, and take it before I went to bed... When I'd gained back the weight I lost, she said stop taking it altogether. I took her advice, and haven't needed it for 6 months. I'm retaining my weight, feeling much better, and not spending $365/month because I seem to no longer need the algae as a supplement.

Mind you... this was merely MY experience. I'm not a doctor, and can't prescribe this for anyone. Your gut feelings - your intuition and your common sense - are your best guides, because medical professionals seem ignorant of algae and things of this nature.
