Kiss and Say Goodbye
The Manhattans

This has got to be the saddest day of my life
I called you here today for a bit of bad news
I won't be able to see you anymore
Because of my obligations, and the ties that you have
We've been meeting here everyday
And since this is our last day together
I wanna hold you just one more time
When you turn and walk away, don't look back
I wanna remember you just like this
Let's just kiss and say goodbye

I had to meet you here today
There's just so many things to say
Please don't stop me 'til I'm through
This is something I hate to do
We've been meeting here so long
I guess what we done, oh was wrong
Please darlin', don't you cry
Let's just kiss and say goodbye (Goodbye)

Many months have passed us by
(I'm gonna miss you)
I'm gonna miss you, I can't lie
(I'm gonna miss you)
I've got ties, and so do you
I just think this is the thing to do
It's gonna hurt me, I can't lie
Maybe you'll meet, you'll meet another guy
Understand me, won't you try, try, try, try, try, try, try
Let's just kiss and say goodbye (Goodbye)

(I'm gonna miss you)
I'm gonna miss you, I can't lie
(I'm gonna miss you)
Understand me, won't you try
(I'm gonna miss you)
It's gonna hurt me, I can't lie
(I'm gonna miss you)
Take my hankerchief, wipe your eyes
(I'm gonna miss you)
Maybe you'll find, you'll find another guy
(I'm gonna miss you)
Let's kiss and say goodbye, pretty baby
(I'm gonna miss you)
Please, don't you cry
(I'm gonna miss you)
Understand me, won't you try
(I'm gonna miss you)
Let's just kiss
And say goodbye

Legend Of Wooley Swamp

Post by IronsGold » 09-18-2007 01:04 PM

Charlie Daniels, Legend of Wooley Swamp

Well, if you ever go back into Wooley Swamp,
Well, you better not go at night.
There's things out there in the middle of them woods
That make a strong man die from fright.
Things that crawl and things that fly
And things that creep around on the ground.
And they say the ghost of Lucius Clay gets up and he walks around.

But I couldn't believe it.
I just had to find out for myself.
And I couldn't conceive it
'Cause I never would have listened to nobody else.
And I couldn't believe it.
I just had to find out for myself
There's somethings in this world you just
can't explain.

The old man lived in the Wooley Swamp way back in Booger Woods.
He never did do a lot of harm in the world,
But he never did do no good
People didn't think too much of him
They all thought he acted funny
The old man didn't care about people anyway
All he cared about was his money.
He'd stuff it all down in mason jars
And he'd bury it all around
And on certain nights
If the moon was right
He'd dig it up out of the ground.
He'd pour it all out on the floor of his shack
And run his fingers through it.
Yeah, Lucius Clay was a greedy old man
And that's all that there was to it.

Cable boys was white trash
They lived over on Carver's Creek.
They were mean as a snake
And sneaky as a cat
And belligerent when they'd speak.
One night the oldest brother said,
"Y'all meet me at the Wooley Swamp later
We'll take old Lucius's money
and we'll feed him to the alligators."

They found the old man out in the back
With a shovel in his hand,
Thirteen rusty mason jars
was just dug up out of the sand.
And they all went crazy
And they beat the old man,
And they picked him up off of the ground.
Threw him in the swamp
And stood there and laughed
As the black water sucked him down.

Then they turned around
And went back to the shack
And picked up the money and ran.
They hadn't gone nowhere
When they realized
They were running in quicksand.
And they struggled and they screamed
But they couldn't get away
And just before they went under
They could hear that old man laughing
In a voice as loud as thunder.

And that's been fifty years ago
And you can go by there yet.
There's a spot in the yard
In the back of that shack
Where the ground is always wet.
And on summer nights
If the moon is right
Down by the that dark footpath,
You can hear three young men screaming.
You can hear one old man laugh.

But I couldn't believe it.
I just had to find out for myself.
And I couldn't conceive it
'Cause I never would have listened to nobody else.
And I couldn't believe it.
I just had to find out for myself
There's somethings in this world you just
can't explain.

Bring 'em Home
Revised lyric by Pete Seeger

If you love this land of the free
Bring 'em home, bring 'em home
Bring our troops back from Iraq
Bring 'em home, bring 'em home

It will make the generals sad, I know
Bring 'em home, bring 'em home
They want to tangle with the foe
Bring 'em home, bring 'em home

Our foe is hunger and ignorance
Bring 'em home, bring 'em home
You can't beat that with bombs and guns
Bring 'em home, bring 'em home

I may be right, I may be wrong
Bring 'em home, bring 'em home
But I got a right to sing this song
Bring 'em home, bring 'em home

If an army invaded this land of mine
Bring 'em home, bring 'em home
You'd find me out on the firing line
Bring 'em home, bring 'em home

Show those generals a fallacy
Bring 'em home, bring 'em home
They don't have the right weaponry
Bring 'em home, bring 'em home

The world needs teachers, books and schools
Bring 'em home, bring 'em home
And learning a few universal rules
Bring 'em home, bring 'em home

So if you love this land of the free
Bring 'em home, bring 'em home
Bring our troops back from Iraq
Bring 'em home, bring 'em home
ImageA silent mouth is sweet to hear.

Long Haired Country Boy

By Charlie Daniels

"People say I'm no good, crazy as a loon.
'Cause I get stoned in the mornin', I get drunk in the afternoon.

Kinda like my ol' bluetick hound I like to lay around in the shade.
And I ain't got no money, but I damn sure got it made.

Well I ain't askin' nobody for nothin', if I can't get it on my own.
If you don't like the way I'm livin', you just leave this Long haired Country Boy alone.

Preacher man talkin' on the tee-vee, puttin' down the rock and roll.
Wants me to send a donation, says he's worried about my soul.

He said 'Jesus walked on the water.' and I know that it's true, but sometimes I think that Preacher man would like to do a little walkin' too.

Well I ain't askin' nobody for nothin', if I can't get it on my own.
If you don't like the way I'm livin', you just leave this Long Haired Country Boy alone.

Poor girl wants to marry, rich girl wants to flirt.
A rich man goes to college and a poor man goes to work.
A drunkard wants another drink of wine and a politician wants a vote.
Well I don't want much of nothin' at all,
But I will take another toke.

Well I ain't askin' nobody for nothin', if I can't get it on my own.
If you don't like the way I'm livin', you just leave this Long Haired Country Boy alone"

Instant Karma ~ John Lennon

Post by SETIsLady » 09-21-2007 09:50 PM

Instant Karma's gonna get you,
Gonna knock you right on the head,
You better get yourself together,
Pretty soon you're gonna be dead,
What in the world you thinking of,
Laughing in the face of love,
What on earth you tryin' to do,
It's up to you, yeah you.

Instant Karma's gonna get you,
Gonna look you right in the face,
Better get yourself together darlin',
Join the human race,
How in the world you gonna see,
Laughin' at fools like me,
Who on earth d'you think you are,
A super star,
Well, right you are.

Well we all shine on,
Like the moon and the stars and the sun,
Well we all shine on,
Ev'ryone come on.

Instant Karma's gonna get you,
Gonna knock you off your feet,
Better recognize your brothers,
Ev'ryone you meet,
Why in the world are we here,
Surely not to live in pain and fear,
Why on earth are you there,
When you're ev'rywhere,
Come and get your share.

Well we all shine on,
Like the moon and the stars and the sun,
Yeah we all shine on,
Come on and on and on on on,
Yeah yeah, alright, uh huh, ah-.

Well we all shine on,
Like the moon and the stars and the sun,
Yeah we all shine on,
On and on and on on and on.

Well we all shine on,
Like the moon and the stars and the sun.
Well we all shine on,
Like the moon and the stars and the sun.
Well we all shine on,
Like the moon and the stars and the sun.
Yeah we all shine on,
Like the moon and the stars and the sun.

Rumblin' Train

By Badlands

"Just a poor boy scratchin' my back on razor's edge,
This razor's edge I call my home.
Keep my thoughts inside myself down where they're born and bled,
I'll probably die by the fire I breath.
Yeah yeah yeah...I said

Deep in my mind this crazy boy is a Rumblin' Train.
No one's gonna steal my soul, I bite the bullet no more.
Deep in my heart is a crazy boy, he's a Rumblin' train, look out babe cuz here I come, Rumblin' Train, Train...

Devil's river runnin' wild in my veins,
It kills my mind but feeds my soul.
Every night a dirty lady in a different bed,
I keep on playin' those hard-on games but I got more in my head.

Cuz in my mind this crazy boy is a Runaway Train,
No one's gonna steal my soul,
I bite the bullet no more.

Deep in my heart this crazy boy is a Runaway Train,
Look out babe cuz here I come,
Rumblin' Train, Rumblin' train..."

Your Song

Post by IronsGold » 09-23-2007 12:22 AM

Your Song
Music by Elton John
Lyrics by Bernie Taupin

It's a little bit funny this feeling inside
I'm not one of those who can easily hide
I don't have much money but boy if I did
I'd buy a big house where we both could live

If I was a sculptor, but then again, no
Or a man who makes potions in a travelling show
I know it's not much but it's the best I can do
My gift is my song and this one's for you

And you can tell everybody this is your song
It may be quite simple but now that it's done
I hope you don't mind
I hope you don't mind that I put down in words
How wonderful life is while you're in the world

I sat on the roof and kicked off the moss
Well a few of the verses well they've got me quite cross
But the sun's been quite kind while I wrote this song
It's for people like you that keep it turned on

So excuse me forgetting but these things I do
You see I've forgotten if they're green or they're blue
Anyway the thing is what I really mean
Yours are the sweetest eyes I've ever seen

George Thorogood And The Destroyers - You Talk Too Much

You talk too much, you talk too much,
I can't believe the things that you say everyday
If you keep on talking baby,
you know you're bound to drive me away

Now you get on the telephone with your girlfriend,
your conversation baby ain't got no end
Yakety-yakety-yakety-yak all the time,
you keep on talking baby drive me out of my mind
You talk too much,
I can't believe the things that you say everyday
If you keep on talking baby,
you know you're bound to drive me away

Well I laid out in the afternoon I start to nappin',
you walk into the room with them jaws a-flappin'
You keep that motormouth moving morning, noon and night,
you keep on talking baby make my head turn white
You talk too much,
I can't believe the things that you say everyday
If you keep on talking baby,
you know you're bound just to drive me away

I think you're trying to put me through some kind of test,
I'm begging you baby won't you give it a rest
You talk about people that you don't even know,
keep it up baby I'm gonna pick up and blow
You talk too much,
I can't believe the things that you say everyday
If you keep on talking baby,
you know you're bound to drive me away

Don't get me wrong baby I don't mean to complain,
but if you keep on talking you're gonna drive me insane
You keep on talking all around the clock,
I'm begging you baby won't you please stop
You talk too much,
I can't believe the things that you say everyday
If you keep on talking baby,
you know you're bound to drive me away

"Wake Up Call"
Maroon 5

I didn't hear what you were saying
I live on raw emotion baby
I answer questions never maybe
And I'm not kind if you betray me
So who the hell are you to say we
Never would have made it babe?

If you needed love
Well then ask for love
Could have given love
Now I'm taking love
And it's not my fault
Cause you both deserve
What is coming now
So don't say a word (shot)

Wake up call
Caught you in the morning with another one in my bed
Don't you care about me anymore?
Care about me?
I don't think so
Six foot tall
Came without a warning so I had to shoot him dead
He won't come around here anymore
Come around here? I don't think so

Would have bled to make you happy
You didn't need to treat me that way
And now you beat me at my own game
And now I find you sleeping soundly
And your lovers screaming loudly
Hear a sound and hit the ground (shot)

If you needed love
Well then ask for love
Could have given love
Now I'm taking love
And it's not my fault
Cause you both deserve
What's coming now
So don't say a word

Wake up call
Caught you in the morning with another one in my bed
Don't you care about me anymore?
Don't you care about me? I don't think so
Six foot tall
Came without a warning so I had to shoot him dead
He won't come around here anymore
Come around here?
I don't feel so bad, I don't feel so bad, I don't feel so bad

I'm so sorry darling
Did I do the wrong thing?
Oh, what was I thinking?
Is his heart still beating? (shot)

Woah oh ohh
Wake up call
Caught you in the morning with another one in my bed
Don't you care about me anymore?
Don't you care about me? I don't think so
Six foot tall
Came without a warning so I had to shoot him dead
He won't come around here anymore
Come around here? I don't feel so bad

I don't feel so bad (Wake up call)
I don't feel so bad (Caught you in the morning with another one in my bed)
I don't feel so bad (Don't you care about me anymore?)
Care about me? I don't feel so bad
Wake up call
Caught you in the morning with another one in my bed
Don't you care about me anymore?

Autumn Leaves

The falling leaves
Drift by the window
The autumn leaves
Of red and gold

I see your lips
The summer kisses
The sunburned hands
I used to hold

Since you went away
The days grow long
And soon i'll hear
Old winter's song

But i miss you most of all
My darling
When autumn leaves
Start to fall

Twighlight Zone

By Golden earring

"Somewhere in a lonely hotel room,
There's a guy starting to realize that eternal fate has turned its back on him.
It's 2:00 a.m.

It's 2:00 a.m. the fear is gone
I'm sittin' here waitin', the gun's still warm.
Maybe my connection is tired of takin' chances.
Yeah there's a storm on the loose sirens in my head,
Wrapped up in silence all circuits are dead.
Cannot decode, my whole life spins into a frenzy.

~
Help I'm steppin' into the Twilight Zone,
This place is a madhouse, feels like bein' cloned.
My beacon's been moved under moon and star.
Where am I to go now that I've gone too far?

Soon you will come to know, when the bullet hits the bone.
Soon you will come to know, when the bullet hits the bone.
~
I'm fallin' down a spiral, destination unknown.
Double crossed messenger, all alone.
Can't get no connection, can't get through.
Where are you?

Well the night weighs heavy on his guilty mind, this far from the borderline.
When the Hitman comes, he knows damn well he has been cheated.

And he says...

~

Help I'm slippin' into the Twilight Zone,
This place is a madhouse, feels like bein' cloned.
My beacon's been moved under moon and star.
Where am I to go now that I've gone too far?

Soon you'll come to know, when the bullet hits the bone..."

4 Non Blondes - What´s Up

Post by SETIsLady » 09-29-2007 06:27 PM

25 years and my life is still
I'm trying to get up that great big hill of hope
For a destination

I realized quickly when I knew I should
that the world was made up of this brotherhood of man
for whatever that means
And so I cry sometimes when I'm lying in bed
Just to get it all out what's in my head
And I am feeling a little peculiar
And so I wake in the morning and I step outside
And I take a deep breath
And I get real high
And I scream from the top of my lungs
What's goin' on

And I say, hey hey hey hey
I say hey, what's going on?
And I say, hey hey hey hey
I say hey, what's going on?
ooh, ooh ooh...

And I say, hey hey hey hey
I say hey, what's going on?
And I say, hey hey hey hey
I say hey, what's going on?
ooh, ooh ooh...

And so I wake in the morning and I step outside
And I take a deep breath
Then I get real high
And I scream from the top of my lungs
what's goin' on

And I say, hey hey hey hey
I say hey, what's going on?
And I say, hey hey hey hey
I say hey, what's going on...

25 years and my life is still
I'm trying to get up that great big hill of hope
For a destination.

Rooster

By Alice In Chains

"Ain't found a way to kill me yet.
Eyes burn with stingin' sweat.
Seems every path leads me to nowhere.

Wife and kids and household pet.
Army green was no safe bet.
The bullets scream to me from somewhere.

~

Here they come to snuff the Rooster.
Yeah, here come the Rooster, yeah.
You know he ain't gonna die.
No, no, no, ya know he ain't gonna die.

~

Walkin' tall, Machine Gun Man.
They spit on me, in my home land.
Gloria sent me pictures of my boy.

Got my pills, 'gainst mosquito death.
My buddy's breathin' his dyin' death.
Oh God please, won't you help me make it through.

~

Here they come to snuff the Rooster.
Yeah, here come the Rooster, yeah.
You know he ain't gonna die.
No, no, no, ya know he ain't gonna die."
