Star Trek "Tradtionalists"

I think the best episode with yeoman Rand was a personal favorite of mine, "Charlie X". Live, check out some YouTube clips of that episode, and you'll probably find some good videos of Janice Rand (who also appeared in Star Trek VI working with Captain Sulu on the Excelsior).

That was great. Also, this is pretty hilarious:

It really may be the "worst fight scene ever."

HaHa!
The Gorn
See, that is what makes TOS so incredibly awesome!
I'd like to see Captain Picard try that one on for size

I do not know if this is traditionalist or not but it's one of my favorites.

Frankly, I place "Arena" as the very worst of all the episodes. The common sentiment is that it's "Spock's Brain", but I challenge with "Arena". It is the only episode I've seen less than five times, because I find it simply unbearable.
But it beats the Borg.
Did you ever stop to think, and then forget to start again?

I think "Arena" is probably the worst TOS episode, too. A much better variation on the theme is the movie "Enemy Mine" which is actually pretty good.

Shore Leave!
My Bottom Five (to date, in descending order):
5. Light of Zetar
4. Shore Leave
3. Spock's Brain
2. Catspaw
1. Arena
Of course, in my youth, I hated these below episodes too. Only to find out as I grew how brilliant they were:
Mudd's Women
Return of the Archons
The Devil in the Dark
Spectre of the Gun
The Alternative Factor (my most regretable choice; now in my top ten)
So you never know!! Genius is genius.

Other contenders are "Patterns of Force", "Spectre of the Gun", "The Omega Glory", "The Savage Curtain", and "A Piece of the Action". All are to a degree based on Earth History and taken to ridiculous levels. I love History and it is because of that I abhor these episodes. It is unlikely alien civilizations would try to emulate Earth History and culture to the degree represented by these episodes.

I don't know these, but I'd guess they're using the distant alien civilizations as a means to critique Earth History, mostly the contemporary US. Wasn't ST known for this? As well as most thoughtful sci-fi, of course.
"Oh no, we aren't talking about contemporary society -- this is somewhere in a different planet on the other side of the galaxy! Nothing to do w/ us...."
The Soviet author Zamyatin did this in the novel WE. He never could've gotten away w/ writing directly about Soviet society.
