A glance at victims and damage in Italy's quake

The Associated Press

The following are figures given by Italian rescuers and government officials on the victims and damage suffered in the earthquake that hit central Italy on Monday:

- More than 100 dead

- Around 1,500 wounded

- Some 10,000 damaged buildings

- At least 50,000 people homeless

- More than 4,000 rescue workers involved

Strong Quake Hits Mexico's Gulf Of California
A 6.9-magnitude earthquake strikes Baja California, Mexico, the U.S. National
Earthquake Center says.

The U.S. National Earthquake Center said a strong earthquake has shaken Mexico's Gulf of California.

It said the magnitude-6.9 quake struck Monday afternoon and was centered 76 miles north-northeast of Santa Isabel in Baja California and 331 miles southeast of the border city of Tijuana.

There have been no immediate reports of damage or injury.

Before - "The loss of these valuable instruments will affect the flow of real-time information of earthquakes occurring throughout the country, it will largely reduce the efficiency of tsunami warnings especially for local coastal communities"

After - "An earthquake of magnitude 7.6 hit the Pacific Ocean near the Vanuatu islands on Sunday, causing a small tsunami"
