Keith, I'm with Shirley here. Though I know SETI itself will deny this vehemently, the downloaded program did wretched things to my hard drive, and I've never been unconvinced it didn't give me a virus (to be fair, I wasn't diligent about updating anti-virus sorftware back then either). I know people will argue it could have been something else, but the problems all started when I left my computer open 24/7 to crunch for SETI. I must also tell you that, over the years, I've lost faith in the SETI mission. I no longer believe it's going in the right direction, and I have no respect for Seth Shostek...or however you spell his name.
But please know I do have deep respect for those of you keeping the faith. It's certainly better than doing nothing!

Did you ever stop to think, and then forget to start again?

I was a member of SETI@ Home and Team Art Bell for years. I enjoyed my experience but don't think I want to return. I agree with Live that the program is no longer going in the right direction. I have the highest regard for all those who continue however.

Well I also have been around since about 1999 but I stopped crunching when I moved to a much hotter climate as it was taking it's toll as far as running my machine really hot...
I may start up again this winter if it turns out to be a cool one, usually it's in the upper 70's plus I'd have to switch to the Linux Client since that's what I'm running on my machine these days...
Glad to see some of the old gang is still around....
Just a note: I installed the new Pre-release of Boinc for Linux and got a Seti-Ehanced file and a AstroPulse file to crunch...
Man the astropulse file will take 615-hours!!!!!!!!!... WOW!!!! the enhanced file will take 25...
I'll have to keep an eye on the Temps, if they stay low I may be back full time crunching...
