HurricaneJoanie or any other experts out there.

Would it be possible for the oil leak in the Gulf to produce a combustible mixture that could be ignited by typical hurricane electromagnetic activity?

Geez, good question, badspell. Oil and water may not mix, but they are both good conductors. "Fire in the Water" for sure....

I voted for no big storms, because I am doing every prayer and ritual I know to make it so.:)

Chocolate recommendation for the upcoming season.:D

For disclosure: My name is PW and I am an addict.

Miniature Reeses. Buy 2 bags of milk chocolate and one bag of new dark Reeses miniatures. Eat in ratio 2 to 1. Preferably in frozen state which allows the flavors to melt and "pop" in your mouth...excuse me, I need to make a trip to the kitchen.:p

{{SETIsLady}} I was nudged by a higher power (and you know you are) to commiserate with my friends once in a while.

And PW, my original post included that preparations would include SL stocking up chocolate, but I tried keep it serious. :p

And you would have to mention my ultimate weakness: Miniature Reese's Cups. I am on a major weight loss program so have a bag for me. That's not to say I won't grab a bag with my bottled-water run when a "center of circulation" is spotted.

I feel you, sister.;)
We don't get hurricanes in my neck of the woods but Reeses Mins are definitely in my house when the winter storms set in.:D I am not sure what my excuse is right now, but press me and I'll come up with one. My favorites too.:D

Tropical storm leaves more than 115 dead in Central America

Post by SETIsLady » 05-31-2010 07:44 PM

(CNN) -- At least 115 people have died after a tropical storm battered Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador over the weekend, officials in those countries reported.

Guatemala was hit hardest, with at least 92 deaths, 54 people missing and 59 injured, emergency officials said. Nearly 112,000 people have been evacuated and more than 29,000 areliving in temporary shelters, Guatemalan President Alvaro Colom said in an address to the nation late Sunday.

The devastation has been widespread throughout Guatemala with mudslides destroying homes and buildings and burying some victims. At least nine rivers have dramatically higher levels and 13 bridges have collapsed, the nation's emergency services said.

In the northern part of Guatemala City, the downpour created a giant sinkhole that swallowed up a space larger than the area of a street intersection. Residents told CNN that a three-story building and a house fell into the hole.
