I'd say wistful is the right word, Bobbi. Art may feel a "nostalgic yearning" of sorts (much as many of his fans might also have) for the way things were at one time but as it is, it's not one strong enough for him to follow through on, given where he is at this stage of his life.
Think of it: it's now been more than two
years since his final C2C appearance (having only been on board for a mere 15 shows a year since 2007), more than five
years since he retired from his regular weekend hosting gig, and more than ten
years since he announced his permanent retirement as host of the weekday show.
That all certainly seems to be more cause to doubt he'll ever do another show than reason to believe otherwise - and frankly, even if I strained my brain 'til the cows come home, I can't point to anything substantive that could act as the basis of any sort of convincing counter-argument.
Being the case an all-new
show is pretty much an unreasonable expectation, my thought of occasional fill-ins for Whit, or 'special bonus' episodes on Dreamland is all I can figure out for a way we might yet get to hear Art again that doesn't require him to 're-invent' anything...
