United Nations: A $240 Per Gallon Gas Tax Is Needed To Fight Climate Change

Post by Doka » 10-10-2018 05:52 PM

The Democrats beloved UN is going broke, the United States refusing to pay every bodies Dues, is only the 1st crimp in their crooked little purse strings. If I where a Liberal , with one Scentilla of a mind left, I'd keep my Eye
On this and the push to get rid of Capitalism, It simply means, that they are COMING FOR what ever is Left in YOUR pockets. And by the way, confiscated properties (Yours). More, E Q U A L, don't cha know.

United Nations: A $240 Per Gallon Gas Tax Is Needed To Fight Climate Change

The United Nations has declared that a $240 per gallon gasoline tax is “needed” to fight climate change. To limit global warming, the UN’s report says that $27,000 per tonne of gasoline will need to be stolen from the public by the year 2100.

For Americans, that’s the same as a $240 per gallon tax on gasoline in the year 2100, should such a recommendation be adopted. In 2030, which is only 12 years away, the report says that the carbon tax would need to be as high as $5,500, and the equivalent to a $49 per gallon gas tax, reported The Daily Caller.

The constant fear mongering and theft of the public in the name of climate change has not dwindled much in the past ten years, and if anything, it has gotten worse. No amount of money will ever be enough to satisfy the ruling class elitists that expect us to just accept that they will continue to steal from us in the name of any agenda they try to scare us about. This is no longer about climate change, but about the desire to steal from those on the very bottom of the economic ladder by those who believe themselves to be superior with authority over everyone.

Hopefully, this is an unlikely scenario, but with more and more humans demanding their own slavery at the hands of other humans, who knows. This huge tax is, however, what the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s report, released Sunday night, sees as a policy option (normal people see it as egregious theft) in the name of reducing emissions enough to keep projected global warming below 1.5 degrees Celsius, according to The Daily Caller.

The IPCC’s report is meant to solidify political support for the Paris climate accord ahead of a U.N. climate summit scheduled for December. The report calls for societal changes that are “unprecedented in terms of scale” in order to limit future global warming to below 1.5 degrees Celsius, the stretch goal of the Paris accord.

A "tax", or whatever they choose to call it, won't solve the problem. But, it's a nice attempt at a power grab........

Here Are All The ‘Last Chances’ We’ve Had On Climate Change

A new report from the United Nations says now is the last chance for the world to take immediate action to stop climate change. These are all the other times climate watchers have said that.

In The Daily Caller News Foundation fact check videos, Anders Hagstrom highlights claims from politicians and the media alike, setting the record straight on double standards and mischaracterizations.

TheDCNF has torn down former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s infamous and much-peddled 17 intelligence agencies claim and exposed the liberal media for running damage control for Hamas. Check out a few of our other greatest hits, and subscribe to TheDCNF’s YouTube channel to make sure you never miss out.

Two related stories - in the first, one of the Northeast's "Filthy Five" Is being demolished. Pollution emitted from the Brayton Point Power station typically affected weather in Quebec, upstate new York, the Canadian Maritimes and Greenland:

Brayton Point Power Station Demolition Underway
October 01, 2018

SOMERSET, Mass. — The Brayton Point power plant isn’t likely to burn coal ever again as demolition is underway to level the former fossil-fuel facility, including its two 500-foot-high cement cooling towers.

On Sept. 25, the owner of the 307-acre peninsula on Mount Hope Bay received permits to raze the pollution emission stacks and the cooling towers, which are often confused for nuclear reactors.

According to the town’s building commissioner, Paul Boucher, the owner of the property, Commercial Development Company Inc. (CDC) of St. Louis, has a permit to level the site within three years. As of Sept. 28, oil storage tanks were being dismantled and asbestos abatement was underway.

CDC bought the site in January for $8.5 million. The company said demolition will be finished in 2019. No building plans have been submitted to the town for what could be proposed. But the company, which specializes in brownfield development, said it will announce plans at a later date “to transform the former power plant site into a commerce center campus for new and sustainable utilization.”

The 1,530-megawatt Brayton Point Power Station was New England’s largest coal-power facility and a regular on the Toxics Action Center’s “Dirty Dozen” list of polluters.

Orsted’s $510M Acquisition of Deepwater Wind Cements European Stake in US Offshore Wind

Ørsted will acquire Deepwater Wind for $510 million, making the Danish wind power giant a leading player in the European competition to capture the fast-growing U.S. offshore wind market.

Monday’s deal, if approved by regulators, will create a U.S. subsidiary called Ørsted North America that has a combined 8.8 gigawatts of projects in development up and down the East Coast. That’s a significant share of the 10 gigawatts of offshore wind capacity being planned for the region.

Deepwater Wind owns the first U.S. offshore wind farm, the 30-megawatt Block Island farm off the Rhode Island coast, which came online in 2016. It also has “long-term revenue contracts in place or pending finalization” for projects in Rhode Island, Connecticut, Maryland and New York totaling 810 megawatts of capacity. It also has about 2.5 gigawatts of offshore wind development potential across three lease areas in Massachusetts and Delaware, of which 1.2 gigawatts are being developed through an equal joint venture with PSEG, a leading New Jersey utility.

Coal use is declining (sorry West Virginia) and wind is picking-up. But European companies who have a much better handle on the technology are moving-in on American companies.......

Very Interesting Kbot, Perhaps the technology, will finally squeeze out enough , to be useful to the people. Could be a good reason, for the Frenzied," Climate Change" Doomers are having such big fit about getting their Carbon Taxes in place, right Now! They are blaming the people that use fossil fuels, (all of us and them too). Fossil Fuels reduced or just plain gone=s their loss of BIG potentual income for them. AHhh, but, I'm sure they will come up with another scheme to scare the masses right out of their money. We have no shortage of "Snake Oil Salespersons" these days.

The Earth has been in this solar system for a longer time than we can comprehend. It has survived massive populations, from many civilations, that we haven't even discovered yet. Yet, we give power to those, that have the same short lifespans, as ourselves, because they tell us that they Know more. Do they really? Are they not as human as we are, prone to greed, political preferences, fear mongering, what ever it is that will promote their pocket books, and the illusion of human superiority.

QUOTE FROM Mr. Miltmore:

And if the “solution to climate change” requires ceding individual and corporate autonomy to the state, well, that’s no solution at all. That’s a road to serfdom. And unlike Mad Max and The Hunger Games, history shows there’s nothing fictional about it.
Is there reason to be skeptical? Of course. The wise words of the British historian Paul Johnson, recently highlighted in an article by FEE’s Lawrence Reed, help us understand why.

Johnson observed that many of the horrors of the 20th century stemmed from the ideas of intellectuals, experts, and utopianists eager to “correct” supposed imbalances in our world. Here is what he wrote:

One of the principal lessons of our tragic century, which has seen so many millions of innocent lives sacrificed in schemes to improve the lot of humanity, is—beware intellectuals. Not merely should they be kept away from the levers of power, they should also be objects of particular suspicion when they seek to offer collective advice.

UN Climate Change Report: A Choice Between "Mad Max And Hunger Games"

by Tyler Durden
Tue, 10/16/2018 - 19:40

Authored by Jonathan Miltmore via The Foundation for Economic Education,

Humanity, we’re essentially told, is doomed lest people concede their freedom to the experts, lawmakers, and bureaucrats who can save us.

The Report is about 800 pages long, so I’ll offer a summary to save you some time:

Global temperatures today are 1.0°C above pre-industrial temperatures.

We’re seeing an increase in extreme weather and other negative consequences as a result of the increase, including receding sea ice in the Arctic and rising global sea levels.

A 1.5°C increase will be (much) worse than a 1.0 increase; 2°C would be much worse than that.

We’re currently on track to exceed 3°C.

Only broad and drastic changes in the world economy can prevent global calamity.

The report’s glum findings were announced at a press conference by a United Nations panel in Incheon, South Korea. Panelists tried to sound optimistic, but there was no sugar-coating the report’s key finding.

“If you would like to stabilize global warming to 1.5°C, the key message is that net CO2 emissions at the global scale must reach zero by 2050,” said panelist Valerie Masson-Delmotte, a French climate scientist and research director at the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission. “That’s the most important finding of the report.”

Barring these substantial reductions, we’re told, millions will die. Literally.

One hates to describe the UN’s latest effort as a “scare report,” but consider the reactions it precipitated. One New York Timesclimate reporter put it this way:

I'm listening to the UN's climate change panel and they're basically saying, it would take a herculean effort to stop us from hitting 1.5C. Based on their description the difference between 1.5C and 2C is basically the difference between the Hunger Gamesand Mad Max.

A college professor who worked on the report said it brought her to tears.

“I am overwhelmed by the challenge we face,” University of Arizona Professor Diana Liver toldGrist. “I had a good cry on the plane home from exhaustion and thinking about implications of the report.”

I cite these example not to mock people who appear genuinely concerned about climate change, but to demonstrate a point: these findings are supposed to scare us.

Prescription For Disaster

Before doing anything as drastic as they propose, how about an independent unbiased agency not aligned with the UN doing an economic impact study?

I'd like to see someone NOT using smoke and mirrors explain how a universal confiscatory taxation plan like this "benefits" business and commerce, and undoubtedly leads to an insanely prosperous utopian "green" economy.

IMO it'd more likely put prosperity in a coffin, with the UN's 'cure' killing more people than any climate change ever would.

Actually, all these taxes are just a great way to get into peoples pockets, It is the Socialists way. If you will note, the ignorant, the guilt ridden ,fearfull , and the just plain crazy are all for it. Never mind the natural ebb and flow of "Climate" that has been with all the planets, including Earth since forever, it comes with the Sun's activitities or lack of. This claim to have Co2 down to nothing, means a lot of dead, forests, gardens, houseplant's and dead hungery people, but really dead! Not to mention impossible to do. As long as we have volcanos popping off and the huge forest fires the Left has created for us all because of simply bad forest management. Both ends of the same people, putting the "Big Squeeze" on dumb people. And what's really awful is watching the ignorant, begging to be Destroyed by a Huge Scam.

The Earth will be just fine, but the people won't know what "living well" means anymore.

Except for the ones calling the shots. You can bet they'll live well. Everyone else? Not so much.

Extreme poverty the likes of which has never been seen: THERE's your man-made global disaster

So starvation puts a bit dent in the world's population? So much the better. Fewer CO2 spewers!

There it is, humanity. Welcome to the future. Courtesy of your utopian green economic masters.
