Poverty Is The New Prosperity

Post by Riddick » 12-11-2018 11:40 PM

Even more astonishing, the NCA gives projections of the “cost of inaction” on climate change, but does not give any estimate of the costs of action on climate change.
Providing an estimate of the costs of fighting CC would go against keeping the real agenda under wraps. What it's really all about is degrowing the world economy - Everyone will live in holes in the ground, but you'll have all the gravel you can eat.

The Top Story Last Year According to New York Times was, drum roll please.....................cc!

"Subscribe now for only a $1.00." was their last gasp (via on line?) sales pitch as the year 2018 came to a close!

Put a price on cc so the alarmists and the deniers will know how big a story it can be from the elite who'll be the only ones to gain great cash from it's eventual fix!

The Story of 2018 Was Climate Change

Our best hope may be the weather.

For a long time, many people thought that it was a mistake to use the weather as evidence of climate change. Weather patterns contain a lot of randomness. Even as the earth warms and extreme weather becomes more common, some years are colder and calmer than others. If you argue that climate change is causing some weather trend, a climate denier may respond by making grand claims about a recent snowfall.

And yet the weather still has one big advantage over every other argument about the urgency of climate change: We experience the weather. We see it and feel it. :fortune:

Contd........ :P on line!

The MSM's CC Perpetual Panic Propaganda Machine

Aside averting certain doom, everything's a distraction, so say true believers! Yet, not everyone's drinking the CCool-aid and that's where the MSM comes in.

The 4th estate isn't so much about "objectivity" and "facts" these days as it is working folks into a frenzy -

So, it's a story all right...! And day and night, night and day, it's all SO predictable - Periods of heavy fabrication & prevarication likely, with more than a chance of widespread bullsh!t !

B.C. emissions going up despite Canada's highest carbon tax

By Canadian Taxpayers Federation -- Kris Sims, BC Director—— Bio and Archives--January 3, 2019

VANCOUVER, B.C.: British Columbia’s carbon dioxide emissions continue to go up year over year, even though British Columbians pay the highest carbon tax in Canada.

“Politicians tell us that we are forking over our money in a carbon tax to reduce CO2 emissions, however, that’s not what’s happening, all this is doing is taking a bigger bite of our paycheques,” said Kris Sims, B.C. Director of the Canadian Taxpayers Federation. “The carbon tax costs everyday people a lot of money, and it’s not reducing CO2 emissions, so why are we doing this?”

posted on the NDP-Green government’s website, data shows that for the second year in a row, CO2 emissions have gone up. CO2 emissions went up from 61.3 million tonnes in 2015 to 62.3 million tonnes in 2016 (the most recent year available). That’s an increase of 1.5 per cent and levels have increased in five of the last six years.

Last year, the Sierra Club pointed out that CO2 emissions are increasing and called B.C.’s highest carbon tax in Canada a “token effort.”

At $35 per tonne, B.C. has the highest carbon tax in Canada and it’s set to be jacked up to $40 per tonne this year. When the carbon tax was first introduced in B.C. in 2008, politicians promised the tax hikes would stop at $30 per tonne and it would always be “revenue neutral.”

Good question. What are carbon tax policies designed to do - Are they meant to materially and observably meet remedial goals? Or might they have more to do with broadcasting the moral enlightenment of politicians, regardless of results?

The pretense is the former, but there’s far more evidence of the latter. Justified as a way to fight global warming, however dubious, to the extent taxation possesses any real objective, it's to help proponents spread socialist "solutions" world wide -

Progressives’ Solutions To Climate Change Summed Up In One Meme

Liberals keep claiming the debate about global warming is over, yet facts keep contradicting them.

At the Spectator Australia, Jennifer Marohasy writes about a new technical paper she collaborated on, applying state-of-the-art data analysis to millennia of global temperatures. Her and her co-authors’ conclusion?

“we cannot confirm that recent warming is anything but natural – what might have occurred anyway, even if there was no industrial revolution.” Well, that’s certainly not what the alarmists want to hear–or rather, what they want you to hear.

As you may recall, hiding inconvenient, contradictory findings is kind of a big practice among the “scientists” liberals want us to blindly follow. None of them ever quite managed to explain how they gleaned “manipulate data and destroy correspondences” from the scientific method, but that hasn’t stopped the press from pretending the evidence for mankind dangerously heating the planet is overwhelming.

Given the sheer scope of the Left’s dishonesty on this issue, it’s no wonder they’re so enamored with firing and jailing people who have the audacity to notice.

The sixth mass extinction, explained

February 17, 2019

The populations of the world's wild animals have fallen by more than 50 percent and humanity is to blame. Here's everything you need to know:

What's gone wrong?
As the human population has swelled to 7.5 billion, our species' massive footprint on planet Earth has had a devastating impact on mammals, birds, reptiles, insects, and marine life. We've driven thousands of species to the edge of extinction through habitat loss, over hunting and over fishing, the introduction of invasive species into new ecosystems, toxic pollution, and climate change. In the past 40 years, the number of wild animals has plunged 50 percent, a 2014 study found. And the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) estimates that populations of vertebrates — higher animals with spinal columns — have fallen by an average of 60 percent since 1970. The past 20 years have brought a 90 percent plunge in the number of monarch butterflies in America, a loss of 900 million, and an 87 percent loss of rusty-patched bumblebees. Only 3 percent of the original populations of the heavily fished Pacific bluefin tuna remain in the sea. "We are sleepwalking toward the edge of a cliff," said Mike Barrett, executive director at WWF.

Don't ya just love conflicting information?! There is just about enough miss- information out there to get a World full of humans out there to Destroy Themselves. :?:

Wait, So How Much of the Ocean Is Actually Fished?

One prominent study said 55 percent, its critics say 4 percent, and they both used the same data.

Ed Yong
Sep 10, 2018

How much of the world’s oceans are affected by fishing? In February, a team of scientists led by David Kroodsma from the Global Fishing Watch published a paper that put the figure at 55 percent—an area four times larger than that covered by land-based agriculture. The paper was widely covered, with several outlets leading with the eye-popping stat that “half the world’s oceans [are] now fished industrially.”

Ricardo Amoroso from the University of Washington had also been trying to track global fishing activity and when he saw the headlines, he felt that the 55 percent figure was wildly off. He and his colleagues re-analyzed the data that the Global Fishing Watch had made freely available. And in their own paper, published two weeks ago, they claim that industrial fishing occurs over just 4 percent of the ocean.

How could two groups have produced such wildly different answers using the same set of data?

Toilet Paper Causes Climate Change

Post by Riddick » 03-03-2019 07:58 PM

It didn’t take long. They keep looking at every possible aspect to blame for climate change, so now it is toilet paper. The latest study says the largest U.S. makers of at-home tissue products—Procter & Gamble Co., Kimberly-Clark Corp., and Georgia-Pacific—all use only virgin fiber in their major brands with no recycled content.

The U.S. consumes more toilet paper per capita than other countries, which is contributing to climate change because we use pulp from Canada’s northern forests that absorbs man-made greenhouse gases. So just use your fingers and wash your hands, or not, depending on who you have to shake hands with.

Wouldn't be nice to just have some Real Science slip onto the MSM once in while? There is a lot of good stuff out there.

Apparently, if Science Doe Not scare you to death or want your money.........It's Not Real?

Greenpeace Founder: Global Warming Hoax Pushed by Corrupt Scientists ‘Hooked on Government Grants’

Greenpeace co-founder and former president of Greenpeace Canada Patrick Moore described the cynical and corrupt machinations fueling the narrative of anthropocentric global warming and “climate change” in a Wednesday interview on SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Tonight with hosts Rebecca Mansour and Joel Pollak.

Moore explained how fear and guilt are leveraged by proponents of climate change:

Fear has been used all through history to gain control of people’s minds and wallets and all else, and the climate catastrophe is strictly a fear campaign — well, fear and guilt — you’re afraid you’re killing your children because you’re driving them in your SUV and emitting carbon dioxide into the atmosphere and you feel guilty for doing that. There’s no stronger motivation than those two.

inject aerosols into the stratosphere to block sunlight... they have been doing that for years now..........

I am beginning to think that the Inhabitants on Planet Earth are simple Lab Rats.

"sucking carbon dioxide out " say good-bye to the forests and gardens.

Geoengineering debate shifts to UN environment assembly

Technologies that aim to cool the planet by reflecting sunlight away from Earth or sucking carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere will be on the agenda of the United Nations Environment Assembly next week, when it meets in Nairobi. The body is poised to debate a resolution on geoengineering approaches that could be used to fight climate change, elevating a controversial issue to its highest political forum yet.

A proposal backed by Switzerland and ten other countries would require the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) to prepare a comprehensive assessment of geoengineering, including methods to pull CO2 out of the atmosphere or inject aerosols into the stratosphere to block sunlight. Due by August 2020, the report would examine the underlying science and technology, and how to govern research and wide-scale use.
