Two interesting articles (among others) concerning a push for renewable energy:

Michael Bloomberg Decides Against Presidential Run in 2020:

Michael Bloomberg Decides Against Presidential Run in 2020

Former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced he won’t run for president in 2020, removing a prominent name from an already crowded field of candidates looking to challenge Donald Trump.

Bloomberg, 77, said while he believes he would beat Trump in a general election, he’s “clear-eyed” about how difficult it would be to win the Democratic nomination. He said it would be better to spend the next two years putting resources into his initiatives such as helping the country transition to renewable energy and addressing gun violence.

Republicans Who Couldn't Beat Climate Debate Now Seek to Join It

After years of sowing doubt, some are seeking new strategy

‘It’s just not worth the fight anymore,’ one lawmaker says

Representative John Shimkus once issued a forceful rejection of climate science at a congressional hearing, invoking the Bible and declaring that “Earth will end only when God declares it’s time to be over.”

Last month, in a turnabout, the Illinois Republican signed onto a letter with the top Republican of the House Energy and Commerce Committee that said “prudent steps should be taken to address current and future climate risks.”

“It’s just not worth the fight anymore,” Shimkus said in an interview when asked about his changing stance on climate change. “Let’s just see what we can do to address it and not hurt the economy.”

Shimkus is among a number of Republicans who -- after years of sowing doubt about climate change or ignoring it altogether -- are scrambling to confront the science they once rejected. They are holding hearings on the issue, beginning with one Tuesday. And they have pledged to invest in technologies to mitigate its impact and are openly talking about the need for taking action.

What the hell are we fighting for? Ah, just surrender and it won't hurt at all. You just got time to say your prayers. Yeah, while you're waiting for the hammer to fall. (Brian May of Queen)

The Green New Deal Omelet

Not worth the fight? What in blue blazes is he thinking?! Putting a big hurt on the economy IS what it's all about. Renewable energy is nice, but it's only a small part of the extreme Left's radical de-growth agenda.

Necessity of de-construction is the mother of re-invention - Bottom line? You can't save the planet AND make a proper socialist utopia in a dozen years or less without breaking all the eggs. SMASH CAPITALISM!

GREEN JIHAD

Greenpeace Co-Founder Patrick Moore Rips AOC Over Her Terrible Green New Deal
@AOC
Pompous little twit. You don’t have a plan to grow food for 8 billion people without fossil fuels, or get food into the cities. Horses? If fossil fuels were banned every tree in the world would be cut down for fuel for cooking and heating. You would bring about mass death.
— Patrick Moore (@EcoSenseNow) March 3, 2019

Isn't @AOC a bit young to talk about WW2? It was Hell & more than 60 million died. It's her @GND that would be worse than WW2. Imagine no fuel for cars, trucks, tractors, combines, harvesters, power-plants, ships, aircraft, etc. Transport of people & goods would grind to a halt. https://t.co/nXhdlK4Tsa
— Patrick Moore (@EcoSenseNow) March 4, 2019

The "greens" and @AOC @GND are just as much against natural gas as they are against oil and coal. They just play them off against each other. Make no mistake, these people are going for the jugular of civilization. It is a green jihad with no compromise. https://t.co/5oTob4PCqr
— Patrick Moore (@EcoSenseNow) March 3, 2019
Moore, a skeptic of "global warming" and "climate change," has distanced himself from extreme environmentalism over the years. He has a PhD in Ecology and refers to himself as "The Sensible Environmentalist" who believes in "science & logic, not sensation & fear."
Fossil fuels are of life-origin & organic, as in the scientific meaning, organic chemistry, the chemistry of carbon. They were made with 100% solar energy. When burned the main products are H2O and CO2, the 2 most important ingredients of all life. So people, stop dissing them. https://t.co/3h2yLIUek6
— Patrick Moore (@EcoSenseNow) March 4, 2019

Yes, the Paris "Accord" is a total sham. China, India and Russia, 40% of global population, ignore it, along with most other countries. The USA is at least honest in pulling out of this fake deal. Fossil fuels are >80% of the energy supply to run the country, and the world. https://t.co/hjDWTtPwv6
— Patrick Moore (@EcoSenseNow) March 4, 2019
The Green New Deal, which requires an elimination of all fossil fuels, airplane travel and meat consumption, would cost the United States $93 trillion.

"Luxury" Public Housing? There is no such creature! Has she got her "personnal "builders" working on that?
Wouldn't have time to enjoy even if they existed, She is back on the World Ending in 12 years, program.

AOC Imagines a World Where Everyone Lives in 'Luxury' Public Housing as a 'Human Right'

At a Bronx town hall on Monday, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) put her big government dreams to work and laid out a vision for a new "world" of housing. She said everyone should live in a luxury apartment like she does (with state-of-the-art amenities) provided by non-profits or owned by tenants. She also insisted that the government should "make sure that housing is legislated as a human right."

"What we have been taught that is a luxury should not be a luxury," Ocasio-Cortez declared. "Another world is possible. We can live with either responsible landlords, or we can live in buildings that are not-for-profit, or tenant-owned. There are so many ways that we can slice this and we can structure it in a way where all people have a right to a dignified home and it’s not science fiction and it’s not just for the rich."

"What we have been taught and what we have been conditioned is that basic rights are a luxury when they are not," the self-identified democratic socialist added.

Ocasio-Cortez said she came to this conclusion after visiting an "affordable housing unit" in Queens where "20 to 30 percent of those units were reserved for seniors who were formally homeless." She noted that a non-profit set up these units, and she claimed that the units "look just like my luxury apartment."

The congresswoman suggested that the quality of life in her luxury apartment should be available for everyone.

The Long Knives Are Now Out For Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

Post by Riddick » 07-14-2019 01:13 PM

Following the public catfight between House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and a can't-stop-mouthing-off AOC team over casually hurled claims of racism, Democrats aren't about to just let the whole thing go and "try to do better" next time.

Apparently, longtime machine pols of the outer NYC boroughs are being activated. Jurassic Rep. Gregory Meeks, of Queens, an 11-term congressman, put Ocasio-Cortez on notice she, too, could be in line to get primaried. She wants to play Robespierre on the Dems, she can wind up like him on the guillotine, too.

Meeks's warning is clearly a signal the long knives are out and money is amassing. Either she shapes up or word is out now from the Democratic machine pols: She's going to be shipped out. FULL STORY

Neat deal, sceam and yell about conditions at the border.......then vote Against the money for the border.

This guy has to be the "Puppet Master" but still AOC, has a bit of trouble, being coherent,

Meet AOC’s Brain: Saikat Chakrabarti

Annoyed at AOC? He’s the one to blame.

Nancy Pelosi is obviously having difficulty controlling the increasingly acrimonious infighting between factions of the House Democratic caucus. Most observers assume that the primary cause of this discord is Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the cadre of far-left first-termers collectively known as “the Squad.” But its actual source is Saikat Chakrabarti, the prime mover behind a Tennessee-based PAC called the “Justice Democrats,” whose support was largely responsible for getting Reps. Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, Ayanna Pressley, Ro Khanna, and Pramila Jayapal elected last November. Chakrabarti has now set up shop in the House, ostensibly as AOC’s chief of staff.

Chakrabarti’s previous HQ was a Knoxville address out of which the Justice Democrats and another PAC operated side by side with a dozen congressional campaign committees. This arrangement flouted a variety of campaign finance laws and prompted several Federal Election Commission complaints, including one alleging that Chakrabarti set up a $1 million slush fund. But this sort of skullduggery is standard practice among Democrats. What exacerbated the already tense atmosphere in their House caucus was Chakrabarti’s response to the $4.6 billion border aid package passed by Congress last month. On June 27, he took to Twitter and berated the Democratic leadership for its shortcomings:

As usual, Dem leadership tried to create a pre-watered down border bill because of a mistaken idea that it’s more “viable.” And they lost to McConnell anyway. This is the entire theory of change that never works. Why not start from your strongest negotiating stance?

Predictably, this presumptuous tweet drew a number of angry responses from various Democrats who had voted for the measure, whereupon Chakrabarti once again betook himself to Twitter and proceeded to accuse his critics of racism:

Instead of “fiscally conservative but socially liberal,” let’s call the New Democrats and Blue Dog Caucus the “New Southern Democrats.” They certainly seem hell bent to do to black and brown people today what the old Southern Democrats did in the 40s.

Chakrabarti later deleted that tweet, but not before it had clearly signaled who actually calls the shots in AOC’s office. There isn’t the slightest possibility that a 33-year-old staffer in the office of a first-term U.S. congresswoman would even consider publicly criticizing the Democratic colleagues of his putative boss — much less the leadership of her caucus — if he feared any serious consequences. Can you imagine what would happen to a staffer in GOP Rep. Dan Crenshaw’s office who had posted a tweet insulting the freshman congressman’s Republican colleagues? The staffer would be lucky to escape with his life, much less his job. The best he could hope for would be the cardboard box treatment.
