Fred,

I am getting that information from my stepson.

Thanks Spike Mike, for the timely reminder that we'd better hire a campaign manager for that bat asap. :)

More than One Star in the Family

I also made a reference at the beginning of this thread to the movie my stepdaughter is starring in. Now, although this thread is about Dan's adventures with bats, I can't give Raquel short-shrift. Her thriller movie, "Killer Bash," has recently been released in Europe. Trailer link: http:...

Update on Dan Riskin's Amazing Bat Discoveries

At the beginning of this post I made a reference to an important discovery Dan made during his latest scientific foray. He determined that vampire bats can run—the only bat species which can do so. This may not seem like much, but it is a very important evolutionary discovery. This discovery was fir...

Iris, the link is http://www.fantasticforum.com/d29d/gallery/album82 It's under Gallery under the main page, but this is the direct link. It is looking good for our scheduled flight out tomorrow. There have still been some gusts today and bands of clouds interspersed with blue sky. Miami seems to have faired well compared to points north. I want to go hooooooome! :(

No…none, thank goodness. It looks like we're getting a reprieve! :)

Lisa is still out there as a tropical storm, but is not looking like it will be a threat to anyone.

Elsewhere in the Tropics…

Weather report from Anguilla, BWI: It has been very calm here the past week, without even a quick little shower. At midweek, the sea was flat as glass, and the temperature made it feel like bathwater. But yesterday, a very narrow line of clouds came over from the southeast and - while it bought no r...

Dove, I've had my share of horsie accidents, too. Is that a dove in your av? What's your other bird? I have four parrots. I wonder if you'll be shoving off in the morning. Good luck! A horse woman, too. Accidents are to be expected, aren't they? The bird in the avatar is my Umbrella Cockatoo that I...

Jeanne made landfall at 11:50 PM on September 25th near the south end of Hutchinson Island just east of Stuart. This is about 5 miles or so north of where Hurricane Frances made landfall 3 weeks ago. Jeanne was a Category 3 hurricane at the time of landfall, making this the first time since 1950 tha...

It is morning in Miami and we are still in the outer bands but never lost electricity. We can still hear the wind outside with stronger gusts and the windows are crackling and popping more than last night, but that is probably due to the wind coming from a different direction. The trees are still bl...

I must have been doing something else when SDM talked about Martinique. It isn't far from Anguilla—maybe 50 miles southeast. Yeah, that could really affect us if the wind is blowing in the wrong direction.

ONLY because the eye is over them. Often the worst winds are on the back side of the storm. There's more to come.
