Hoosh, The Survival Stew Of Famed Antarctic Explorers

Post by Riddick » 04-03-2020 12:08 AM

If you want to eat like a survivalist, you may want to brush up on the food taken on long Antarctic expeditions a hundred years ago. There were no freeze-dried processed MREs, unless you count staples like hardtack (consisting of flour & salt) and the Native American pemmican (dried meat, rendered fat & sometimes fruit).

While that may not sound particularly yummy, hunger is the best sauce. And if you were starving, there was nothing better than hoosh, which was made from hardtack, pemmican, and snow. MMMmmm! Getcher recipes rite cheer, folks!
