Some Good News,Not For long..................

Post by Doka » 08-25-2022 12:54 PM

In the Eastern part of the Pacific North West, in a small area, we are having a bumper wheat crop. We do what is called "Dry Land Farming" that means no added water, except whats gods provide. We got lucky this year we had a long wet Spring, then in July came the heat to finish up and ripen the wheat, expections 45 bushel per acre is the highest we have had in long time(60lbs to a bushel of wheat). The farmers managed to get the ground seeded early enough, most do fall and winter seeding around here, And I am not sure about the hardships faced getting ferilizer. And not sure what prices will land on, being a commodity, tends to constantly be moving up or down. A point of interest fo you, the price of wheat has Not fluctuated much to the farmer for the last 100 years, very rare to get over $3.00 per bushell. There maybe ateaspoon of wheat in a loaf of bread and thse days, thats probably a stretch. Yes the goverment still pays farmers NOT to plant. So the food chain has Always been precarious at best. FARMERS want to grow things, that's Why the are called Farmers.

This year would be a bright except our current Communist Regime Escalated Taxes are going to wipe ot the last of the old timey Farmers along with the rest of us. No matter how rich you think a Farmer is, he lives by the seat of pants and his banker. The machines that harvest the grains are running over a million bucks .

Just for fun i have encluded an ad on a New John Deere Combine, pretty swanky :D
