If Americans Prefer Capitalism, Why Do So Many Vote Like They Don't?

Post by Riddick » 01-08-2021 02:23 AM

Some conservatives take comfort in a December Rasmussen/Heartland Institute poll which purports to show that Americans favor the free market over socialism by 75% to 11%.

But if Americans overwhelmingly support capitalism, why do they keep voting for socialism? Do they even know what socialism is? It isn’t tired-looking men in overalls working in state-run factories. Today’s socialists prefer indirect control.

As the great Austrian economist Ludwig von Mises explained, this is a type of socialism which “nominally and seemingly preserves private ownership of the means of production and keeps the appearance of ordinary markets, prices, wages and interest rates,” while (through subsidies and mandates) it exercises increasing control over what still appears to be a free market. This is the socialism of our elites, including the Democratic leadership.

During the campaign, Biden asked, “Do I look like a radical socialist” (“Come on, Man!”). No, and neither does Vogue model Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in her $14,000 designer outfits – and she’s an avowed socialist.

Biden also tells us he “beat the socialists” in the primaries. Then he turned around and made a deal to get their support in November, by embracing a large part their agenda, including the Green New Deal, canceling college debt and expanding Medicare.

Okay, Joe isn’t committed to the Marxist class struggle -- because he isn’t committed to much of anything. He's spent almost his entire adult life as a faithful foot soldier of the Democratic establishment. Now that his party has shifted ever leftward, he follows dutifully in its wake.

Take his campaign slogan, “Build back better.” What’s wrong with what we have now? Too much personal liberty and profit-motive? But he has a cure for that. Biden wants to pay for all his better building and "free stuff" with $4 trillion from raising taxes on “corporations and the wealthy.”

Naturally, his regime will soon run out of fat cats to rob. That’s when it’ll get around to skinning the rest of us. Without the rich to invest in job-creating, wealth-generating new businesses, government will have a monopoly on those investments, allowing Washington to have even more control over the economy.

Joe (Who Was That Masked Man?) Biden is also aching to expand Fauci-ism nationally. Bureaucrats get aroused at the idea of placing the populace under lockdown whenever they choose, deciding which businesses will fail and which will succeed, while they merrily flout the rules they’ve made for others.

The more businesses that fail, the easier to build the new economy. F.A. Hayek wrote “Emergencies have always been the pretext on which safeguards of individual liberty have been eroded.” From Climate Change to the Coronavirus, hysteria is an effective tool for herding the masses.

It’s reasonable to assume part of Rasmussen’s pro-free market 75% voted for Biden’s socialism in the last election. Obviously, that includes the 57% of Democrats who say they’re down with economic freedom. They say they prefer capitalism to socialism, but identify with the party of Pelosi, Schumer, Gavin Newsom, de Blasio and the Squad.

The average voter needs a basic course in economics, using Economics in One Lesson by Henry Hazlitt and Hayek’s The Road to Serfdom as textbooks. Then, Rasmussen’s poll might actually mean something.

SHOCK: Venezuela Admits Socialism Doesn’t Work!

Post by Riddick » 02-18-2021 12:31 AM

After much pain and suffering, Venezuela's socialist leaders have conceded they cannot effectively run an economy. According to Bloomberg News, president Nicolás Maduro has quietly begun transferring state assets back into the hands of private owners in an effort to reverse the country's economic collapse. I think we forget about the millions that have escaped from these Communist Countries, to come here to be free. And what our military fought for in the 2nd World War against The Japanese and the Nazis, World Domination, was not so popular in the those days, people(the Mom and Pop Patriots) didn't seem so confused as to what Freedom really meant. And what were clearly fighting for. Fast Forward a generation or 3, and many of the Descendants of these generations have Now taken up with the Nazi, Communist ideology and are fanatically fighting for it. Who says Ignorance and brainwashing are not workable tools, to work the "Puppets".They have become the" Enemy "of the people and themselves, but since they have no "self" they are just Robots, and not the good kind.

Except it wasn't our people that did the damage!

From Epic Times

It’s hard to say anything about former President Donald Trump that hasn’t already been said. During the four years of his presidency, there’s hardly been a day without news reports about him.

We’re not looking to reinvent the wheel. Instead, we’ll let an Epoch Times reader tell her story about our 45th president.

I was in D.C. on January 6. I went with one of the groups that had rented a tour bus, and we all chatted on the way there. On the way back, things were a lot quieter. We had all witnessed what happened at the Capitol and had heard some of the media reports about it.

The lady I sat next to was from Taiwan. I asked what she thought of all this.

“I’m definitely not happy, but I don’t think this is completely a bad thing,” she told me.

I was surprised by her answer, so I asked her why. She explained that many Americans don’t know what it’s like to live under socialism and communism. “It’s different for us because we’ve had communist China at our doorstep for decades. Maybe this way, Americans can get a taste of what communism is and know why we’ve been fighting it for so long.”

“I really admire the president,” she said. “He’s been up against so much. Now we see that he’s almost had to stand alone, and so much of our country has been taken over. Still, you never see him mad, and you never see him depressed.”

“That’s nice and all,” I said, “but at this rate, we won’t even have a country by the time other Americans wake up and smell the coffee.” What she said next really stuck with me.

“Well, not if we’re all giving up,” she said. “The president has fought for us for so long. It’s about time that we fight for our country too”

She was so determined in that moment that it felt unshakeable. That’s just the effect Donald Trump has on people.
