Scientists 'Boot Up' a Bacterial Cell With a Synthetic Genom
ScienceDaily (May 20, 2010) — Scientists have developed the first cell controlled by a synthetic genome. They now hope to use this method to probe the basic machinery of life and to engineer bacteria specially designed to solve environmental or energy problems.
The study will be published online by the journal Science, at the Science Express website, on May 20.
The research team, led by Craig Venter of the J. Craig Venter Institute, has already chemically synthesized a bacterial genome, and it has transplanted the genome of one bacterium to another. Now, the scientists have put both methods together, to create what they call a "synthetic cell," although only its genome is synthetic.

One can only hope this is used for the best of intentions only.

You notice how "off" you occasionally feel whenever you eat a bag of corn chips. Well, that's nothing compared to what you'll feel when this stuff is added into the mix!
The New World Order wants to kill us all off. Why? So they can substitute THESE creatures in our place...

I was a year early on my prediction, or perhaps the deed was done last year and is just now being published.

I heard this on the news yesterday morning and it made me want to throw up. No way are we an advanced enough species to use this wisely.

Dance to heal the earth. Not just when you're dancing, but always. Live the dance, whenever you move, in all you do, dance to heal the earth.

Good call, Psychicwolf. You were probably right on the timing. Just not the uncovering of...
So correct, badspell. There are friendly bacteria and distinctly unfriendly bacteria. The human species has been locked in a strange ballet with bacteria for eons. In a way, I suppose this 'evolution' is inevitable.
And of course - the human species is not sufficiently enlightened - it would seem.
Indeed scary...

I think it's pretty cool, actually! I think that it would be very difficult to fund this research for nefarious means. Just from someone who has worked in biology labs, this being used for evil seems very unlikely. But then I'm a dreamy-eyed librul optimist.
Plus I was promised I could be one of the World Command Programmers once the new species takes over the world. There's that.
