That is some slick flash widgetry. Old too..post is almost 9 years, a year before I got here. The guy who posted it, as I recall, was also Star Trek inspired and made his whole personal site in that fashion.

Me too, but what can you do..unless you're apple. HTML 5 should replace all that soon enough.

So, looking at that LCARS gui now, does it still look futuristic to you? Pretty sure that all caps arial black font was for the little screen of TV back then and not because it looks modern.

Today's newer tablets come close to ST performance..Win7 tablets have Voice Recognition..others may too. Considering those are stand-alone devices and the ST computer was some sort of centralized mainframe we're about there.

I have http://code.google.com/p/moonblink/wiki/Tricorder on my phone and it is about as close to the real thing as you can get right now... ie "Displays gravitation and magnetic field, environmental and geographic information, based on information from the sensors in the device. ".

A must have geek toy if you run android.

I'm wanting to..cost prohibitive now tho. I like the android 3 OS on a dual core w/tegra based gfx - 7" as that slides into your front pocket, if nec
..but would be happy with a walmart one that I could hack also, lol.

Preferably from a company that has stakes here in the states.

I was afraid to mention this about turtle's, since she already had bought it. Her's at least came from a major chain and should be supported better than others I've read about.

Due to current economic conditions the light at the end of the tunnel has been turned off.

Unzip the file on your computer before you put it on the tablet.

Does the tablet have an SD card slot?

If your computer has a card reader all the better. Take the SD card from your tablet, put it in the SD card reader on your PC. If yours doesn't have a reader you can get cheap 3rd party ones.all over..

Then you can take the zip, unzip it to your PC desktop or someplace you can find it, then just drag to the SD card. Put the SD card back in your tablet and run the app from there. This is how I read it's done..especially if you can't get into the Android app store, as many versions can't..or the device has them locked out.
