My initial plans were to spend three weeks, but it appears that I've been overly optimistic in this timeline. Given the complexity and length of travel I may just opt for an open end until I feel I've done all I can. Meanwhile, it's also apparent that the forms of communication which we have come accustomed to are light-years ahead of what I may be able to use. Simply, graphics, pictures, and complex code in web pages will probably force me to abandon some on-line services, such as the Fantastic Forum.
The best I can squeak out of the sat system is 2400 baud, and that's if the BER is decent. A cloudy day and it's down to 1200 or even 300 baud. The plan is to have an IT friend see if we can proxy something to strip out all the pics and code, leaving only text. I have no idea how that will work, but it's worth a try. I'll try to post, but there is no guarantees.
Hopefully I come back OK, perhaps a little less heavy, but mostly tuned in to the unknown. It will be the trip of my life.
As should I not come back, I will my sick sense of humor to Riddick and my soul to RA.
