Midwest At High Risk For Summer Blackouts

Post by Riddick » 06-20-2022 03:31 PM

In the recent past, California and Texas have suffered blackouts due to inadequate electricity supply. This year, as the summer heats up, it is the midwestern states served by the Midcontinent Independent Systems Operator (MISO) that are most likely to see their lights go out.

Why are blackouts suddenly occurring after many decades of reliable energy? Because the Midwest now lacks enough reliable electricity to cover peak demand due to “green” demands that reliable power plants be shuttered. FULL STORY

Ya Gotta Love Cullen's Confidence

Midwest Independent System Operator (MISO) power grid officials said residents could face rolling blackouts this season, News 9 WAOW reported. MISO has never made a warning like this in the past. Wisconsin Public Service (WPS), however, said it is ready to handle the summer heat.

"It's never come to the point where MISO has ordered us to reduce the amount of electricity that we are delivering," WPS spokesperson Matt Cullen told News 9 WAOW. FULL STORY

Here Come The Blackouts

The grid is becoming increasingly fragile due to growing dependence on energy sources that usually don’t show up to work. So far, we still have enough reliable energy to keep the lights on almost all of the time. But as coal, nuclear and even natural gas plants are retired, that will no longer be true.

Consequences are turning out to be tragic. Replacing reliable energy with unreliable energy that most of the time produces nothing (wind & solar) is obviously a recipe for grid failure. You might assume the Biden administration & liberal state lawmakers now in charge of energy policy have a plan to prevent grid collapse.

You would be wrong. They don’t. It isn’t a question of if we experience massive blackouts, but of when. Every year, as reliable power is replaced with sporadic power, blackouts become more likely until they are inevitable.

The electric grid will fail. If not this year, next year. If not then, the year after. In other words, we are screwed.

Energy Aware Day

Post by Riddick » 06-29-2023 12:15 PM

So I got an email from our local utility today saying since the power system is under stress due to the weather, so as to assure reliable electricity for our community it would be "smart" if customers cut their energy use between 3-7pm

"Each seemingly small action can collectively make a difference to lower demand", they say. What they don't say is meeting demand is increasingly an issue because of big dumb actions being taken by utilities to replace reliable sources with renewables.

In time thanks to climate alarmists & stupid politicians who listen to them there'll be no need to send out email notices. Every day will be an 'energy aware day'.

We Energies' latest energy aware days announcement: "turn up the thermostat and turn up the fun!" suggesting folks forget the cooking & have an outdoor picnic. YEAH BABY! Have some heat prostration with your meal! What idiocy.
