Inspired British Gardener Forms an Incredible and Unbreakable Bond With a Robin

Post by Doka » 02-06-2022 09:47 AM

A British gardener has formed a unique friendship with a robin named Bob whom he visits at least twice a week. Owing to Bob’s love for the camera, the pair have become world-famous for their heartwarming garden antics.

Tony Putman, 39, who lives in the English town of Crowborough, East Sussex, met Bob in his hometown of Edenbridge, Kent, in early November of 2019.

“Bob is a European robin. He lives at one of my jobs, where I work two days a week,” Putman told The Epoch Times by email. “I can, and do, visit Bob whenever I can if not working.”

When Bob hears Putman’s truck coming, he will greet him right at the gate.

“Bob has, and will, land on my head if he wants. I can walk right up to him and he won’t be concerned by me at all,” the gardener said of their bond. “He will follow me if I call him, and sometimes he’ll call me to get my attention. He’s at complete ease with me, but only me.”

Putman takes immense pride in saying that Bob recognizes him as an individual, which he thinks is “amazing” for a little bird.

Bob disappeared after spring of 2020, which Putman expected; as robins establish their territory in the late fall or early winter, hatch their young, and stay only until the end of spring when food becomes plentiful. However, to Putman’s surprise, Bob did return.

According to Putman, robins generally get used to him and will follow him in hopes of tasty treats. Over the year, he has known eight robins, in total; but Bob is the only one that has ever returned.

Sharing in detail about the bond he shares with robins, Putman said: “It all actually started six years ago with another robin I named ‘Robin.'”

“I had no interest in photography or social media at the time, but when I met Robin, everything changed. He very much became my photography subject,” he added.

Tony has a way with animals as we can see.👌 Good vibes Doka, thanks. :D

The whisky jack? What a name for a bird!

The Grey Jays in the wilds of the Rockies and Canada will warm up to any stranger holding out proper food in an open palm. It's a hoot having them swoop down to land on your finger tips! :D

1880's adventurer and noted ornithologist Robert Muir in the Rockies most of the time is depicted in a painting with a wild bird on his finger tips. I would bet my bottom dollar it was the hungry Camp Robber dba the Grey Jay. 8)

Out in Colorado near Sheep Mountain South of Montrose on a loggers elk hunt. I was 1/2 way down an avalanches's football field wide and much longer aspen timber's 100% bulldozing. Two hunters from New Mexico were talking while coming down behind me from above the tree line. The Grey Jay I had repeatedly returning to my G-bar "hand out" had one of them telling the other, "Hey! Look at that!

If you see one out in the Oregon forests in slightly upper elevations. See what happens when you get their attention with your raised open hand holding up a piece of fish or a busted up Granola bar! :o 🤓

My 1st encounter with gray jays was at the foot of Mt Saint Helens, as I recall I was eating a sandwich and they ate it up right out of my hand, with out being offered, no fear. :D .

Well, how rude Doka. 🤔 Trust but verify...........that you really have food,, is their go to you mode. Great fun! :D

Was it just one? I can say I've never seen a bunch taking turns over smoked lake trout.

I think what these big city criminal minds need to keep their minds cool, calm and collected all day. Would be them feeding by hand any hungry gang of whisky jacks loaves of bread and salmon ALL DAY LONG! There's another side of life other than smash and grab or gang banging.
