Internet Explorer 7

Post by Alien-BC » 12-22-2006 02:42 AM

Any pirates using the new Internet Explorer 7 yet? I developed a problem with Fire Fox today it won’t let me save bookmarks for reasons I have yet to figure out.
So I downloaded the new version of MS explorer and just wanted to know what the pro’s and cons are. My first impression is that it looks and feels a lot like Fire Fox, now why is that?

I accidently installed it on one of my machines (I wasn't paying attention to the to the MS updates).

Although IE 7's Tab'd browser is a nice touch (stolen from FireFox) personally I just don't like it. If I have to use IE I'll stick to IE 6.

I tend to use Firefox more then IE anyway.

Others I have spoken to locally who have seen IE 7 in action have all decided against installing it as well. They just don't like the feel and new lay out.

I'm using it. There are some things I like, and a few things that I don't. I feel like it's a little slower than IE 6. I've never used Fire Fox.

Seamonkey

Alien-BC, I believe that the best browser available is "Seamonkey"! It is open source, utilizes the best features of Firefox including optional tabbed browsing, but has the look and feel that long time Netscape users like and are familiar with. It is also available with or without a built in e-mail client.

The SeaMonkey Project

The SeaMonkey project is a community effort to deliver production-quality releases of code derived from the application formerly known as "Mozilla Application Suite". Whereas the main focus of the Mozilla Foundation is on Mozilla Firefox and Mozilla Thunderbird, our group of dedicated volunteers works to ensure that you can have "everything but the kitchen sink" — and have it stable enough for corporate use.

Internet Explorer, any version, gets a new flaw patched regularly, well, if MS thinks it deserves patching. I've seen them leave know critical flaws unpatched for months in a row. . I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, ever.

Seamonkey is the old Mozilla, a great browser.

Opera is a secure, strong contender that is really expanding into the mobile market. Very much worth checking out.

I still painlessly use and strongly recommend Firefox.
