PATH OF LITTLE WONDERS
My husband and I are staying in our little apartment, next to George Washington University, in foggy bottom here in Washington, D.C. we stay here whenever we are in D.C. We can walk to Georgetown, the Kennedy Center, the Capital and nearby White House.
We were suppose to leave for Bamako, Mali today, along with our three Russian Blue cats...............but right now I am just waiting for surgery.
A slight bump in the road, I must stay due to medical situation. This might delay me about 6 more weeks, but once I have the surgery Jim can go ahead to Bamako with the cats. I'll join him when I am released. They don't want air travel so soon after surgery. Jim is here with me and will start French classes Monday.
I had some bleeding about month ago, a week later I had biopsy and a week after that on 1 August a D&C, for removal of polyp and tissue sample. That sample showed adenocarcinoma.
One wonders about that pap smear I had last April the result of which was
negative. Hmm. If I did not have this unexpected symptom, I could be on my way to Africa and never know about the cancer my body decided to develop. The concern of my friends, while we were in training in Virginia, got me to a doctor. I would not have had the biopsy, if I didn't have their encouragement, who recommended their Gynocologist. We had to be in D.C. on the 4th of August, so appointments needed to be handled quickly.
In WDC (Washington DC) we contacted GWU (George Washington University) Last Thursday on the 9th I had colonoscopy and they removed polyp which I knew about when I had divertiulitis last December. So I am waiting for test on that sample. Today is 14th, no news is good news.
August 29th I am scheduled for hysterectomy to remove any possible cancer, and they will test lymph nodes to determine if cancer may have spread. The Foreign Medical program at Department of State (across the street from me) is assisting us. I hope to move up date on surgery. However, surgeon is on Holiday until the 20th.
Meanwhile tomorrow I am going to Yonkers, New York for family reunion. It will be our last one since my cousin will be 80 years old in two years, he has reunion every two years.
We really believe we got it very early and I don't expect radiation or chemotherapy. We will wait and see.
I have many praying for us and I can feel the love. Many have told us of their brush with serious medical problems and their recovery. If I had the flu I would find others that had the flu, now I find others that have my situation. In crisis we feel alone, but many others do understand. In the future I will understand and give comfort.
Well, we continue to wait and see.

many prayers going out to you MAD... i pray that your body is rid of that cancer completely.
have you ever heard of the 4-herb combination called Essiac? a natural cancer killer... i have and have read many positive testimonials. i worked part-time in a Herb Shop to learn all about herbal remedies. i never heard of Essiac before then, but we had a lot of customers coming in asking for repeat orders so they could make the tea at home, and with many personal testimonies....

Glad you have some caring comrades that urged you to get checked! Sounds like you caught it early. Hysterectomies are (for the most part) so easy compared to the old days when you'd get the big "smile" incision.
What do you do, that you travel round the world and work in all these exciting places?:)

Dance to heal the earth. Not just when you're dancing, but always. Live the dance, whenever you move, in all you do, dance to heal the earth.

Ivy, I'll look that up. They say the surgery got it all. Doctor says I'm cured. I hope so. Lifetime of stress and worry doesn't do us any good either. I'm working on a new way of living. Many woman out there experiencing a lot more than I have. I was lucky.
