BOINC Transition Is Here!!
At long last, the BOINC project is in the transition phase. You can find out more by going to
http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah/
You can use the same account e-mail addy that you used for the Original SAH but you'll need to activate it. That is all explained at the above site. Or, you can sign up with a new account and start fresh, whichever you prefer. The results you earned for SETI@home will stay their and be archived for future reference. The BOINC version will use a different credit system which is beyond the scope of this post...you'll have to read about Cobblestones (the new credit system) on the BOINC/SAH website above. Make sure you read through and understand everything on the site so you know how everything will work. It can be a bit confusing at first so have patience.
I will still be your humble webmaster as the transition takes place and on into a fully BOINC-centric SETI@home evolves. I will try to figure out a new system for the stats page so that there is little downtime with BOINC stats. The old stats page will stay up for a while...probably until the transition phase is complete.
Our team will transfer over to BOINC from the Original SETI@home. They have already done this by a transfer of the database. As Dave Anderson told me, there will more than likely be a few months slack given to activate your account at the new BOINC/SAH site. If your account is not activated after a set time it will be deleted. So, needless to say, our team definitely won't be 13,000+ members any longer. Probably more like 4,000 or less.
Any questions after you've read through the new BOINC/SAH site post them here in this thread.

Boinc Seti
I finally reset my 3 Boinc Beta machines over to the new Seti Boinc and started in.
As soon as my Seti Classic account reaches 40,000 (as of right now I am around 39,400) I will stop the rest of my farm, turn off my SetiQueue server and install Seti Boinc on all of them... I can't hardly wait! It's almost like starting again!

I received a reply from David Anderson about pulling the plug on SETI@home and how long our members have to switch over to the BOINC-based SETI@home and here's his reply:
Mark:
We're letting SETI@home classic users migrate gradually to BOINC; this lets us deal with performance issues easier.
About 2-3 months from now (more or less) we'll pull the plug
on SETI@home classic.
Team listings: turns out that the database query to get team
members ordered by credit was real slow, so we took out the order. Ideally I'd like to see team listings on 3rd-party stats sites, based on our XML data export.

BOINC
I've "lost" my last w WU's. 2 different machines have received "fatal eror" messages when uploading the results. I imagine that this is, finally, the BOINC transition.
I am not able to get onto the BOINC registration site thru your link.
Could this be due to a huge numbetr of attempts to "register"?

As a result of going off line and other things I had to reinstall my computer and lost my BOINC BETA Testing info. I went to get the new one for running it and all I get wass this message
July 28, 2004
The project is currently down. We found a bug in the scheduling code such that returned results were not being updated in the database. We are now running a fix script on the DB, marking each affected result as unsent so that it will be resent. Unfortunately, credit was not given for results affected by the bug

Well, it seems they are working out kinks with the DB and servers, etc. so let me take this opportunity to offer some answers or find them for you. If anyone has any feature requests, questions, improvements, ideas, etc. post them here and I will get some, if not all, answered in a timely fashion. Jeez, turning 29 seems to have pushed me over the edge into geezerdom:eek:
Seriously, though, if anyone has a question or idea or anything please post it here. I don't know everything but I'm a really good sleuth and I'm in constant contact with David Anderson and Eric Heien. I'm sure if I can't find the answer on my own I can ask them and get the definitive answer.

for SETI@home? ClimatePrediction.net? Predictor@home? or LHC@home?
I can check the last three but SETI@home has been transfered from the original site so it still belongs to Angus (for Administrative privs)
If SETI@home, did you sign up here:
http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/team_di ... amid=30194
If so, you should be there.
